The NDGOP’s state convention is going to be ugly
MINOT, N.D. — I’m going to make a prediction about the NDGOP’s upcoming state convention in Bismarck, but I’m going to say something about that prediction that you don’t often hear from a political prognosticator like myself.
I hope I’m wrong.
Here’s the prediction: The convention is going to be ugly.
How could it not be?
For months you’ve read the headlines from myself and others about the civil war in the NDGOP between an intransigent faction of reactionaries who think policymaking means implementing the whims of the Fox News primetime lineup, and the traditional conservatives who have steered our state, and their party, to more than three decades of success.
