Port: Prigs and prudes in the Legislature send book ban to Gov. Burgum’s desk
MINOT, N.D. — It was hard not to feel depressed last night, as I watched a majority of the North Dakota House of Representatives, working deep into the evening hours, pass Senate Bill 2360, which is a book ban.
During the floor debate, the Philistines supporting this blatant act of moral Grundyism repeatedly insisted that the legislation is not a book ban. Except, if you read the bill, it institutes criminal penalties for librarians who stock certain books and other media.
That’s a book ban.
They could at least have the courage to call it what it is.
