Why should North Dakota Superintendent Kirsten Baesler get a third term in office?

For one thing, she has saved North Dakotans millions on college tuition by expanding access to for high school students to courses that earn them college credit while still enrolled in the K-12 system. Baesler estimates that this policy has saved students and their parents $4 million.

She was first elected in 2012. Though the superintendent’s office is officially non-partisan, the Democrats and Republicans traditionally endorse candidates, and Baesler has enjoyed the support of Republicans.

On this episode of Plain Talk she talks about her accomplishments so far — including a 10 percent decrease in her office’s staffing and increased statewide graduation rates — as well as what she’d like to do if given another four years in office by voters.
