In One of the Trumpiest of Trump States, a Delegation Turns Their Backs
MINOT, N.D. — If there are states more Trumpy than North Dakota, there aren’t many of them.
President Donald Trump won our state in landslides each time he was on the national ballot. He has consistently enjoyed strong polling here.
Yet there is evidence, both here and nationally, that the Trump coalition is crumbling.
For evidence, look no further than the fact that North Dakota’s entire congressional delegation — Rep. Kelly Armstrong first, followed by Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer — has announced they’re voting to confirm the election of Joe Biden as America’s 46th President.
They are not voting to back the conspiracy-addled and wholly unconstitutional effort, led by Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Josh Hawley of Missouri, to undermine some of the non-Trump votes cast by states in the Electoral College.
