Jack Seaman, Libertarian candidate for the U.S. House, was my guest on the radio today.

His top priority, should be be elected to the U.S. House? The national debt, which he described as the “biggest threat to our national security” today.

He said his Republican opponent, incumbent Congressman Kevin Cramer, has “consistently voted for unbalanced budgets.”

“We know exactly how he’s going to vote if we give him another term,” Seaman said.

“He votes for big budgets, big debt, and big wars,” Seaman added.

And his Democratic opponent, Chase Iron Eyes? Seaman says the candidate is an enigma, both to himself and to voters.

“We don’t know what we’re going to get with Chase because he doesn’t address any issues on his website, or any other national issues publicly that I’m aware of, other than local issues here in North Dakota. Particularly the Dakota ACcess Pipeline has been his big issue lately,” Seaman said. “I honestly don’t know where Chase stands on fiscal matters, foreign policy, taxation, spending, and I don’t think the voters of North Dakota know either.”

Seaman acknowledge that he’s probably a long shot to beat Cramer – in 2014 Seaman got 5.8 percent of the vote while Cramer got over 55 percent – but suggested that with Democrats running such a weak slate of candidates on the statewide ballot this year he could put up a bigger vote total than Iron Eyes.

Which would be remarkable for a third party candidate.
