Arsonist Opposes Firefighters
MINOT, N.D. — The Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was a wake-up call.
A sign that Trumpism, and the cult of personality which promotes it, cannot be condoned.
And, for a while, it was exactly that for some of the country’s most prominent Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
“The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters,” he said a week after the attack. “He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action by President Trump to accept his share of responsibility, quell the brewing unrest and ensure President-elect Biden is able to successfully begin his term.”
A funny thing happened on the way to accountability.
