OKLAHOMA CITY — Conservatives are calling for protesters to gather Thursday when U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder speaks at the graduation ceremony for a group of Oklahoma City police academy.

State Rep. Paul Wesselholft, R-Oklahoma City called for demonstrations near the site of Holder’s speech, a church on Northwest Fourth.

State Rep. Mike Turner, R-Oklahoma City, a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 5th Congressional District of Oklahoma – Oklahoma City and areas to the east – urged people to let Holder know they aren’t pleased with his term as the nation’s top law enforcement officer.

“This is simply outrageous,” said Turner. “After his involvement in the ‘Fast and Furious’ gun running scandal and his refusal to hand over documents on the matter to Congress, I find it disturbing that he will be addressing men and women who will be fighting on the front lines against the Mexican cartel presence in Oklahoma City.

“Our police officers put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety of our citizens. I cannot condone the decision to have someone appear at a police graduation that does not respect their sacrifice and is willing to needlessly endanger American lives.”

Also calling for protesters to gather against Holder is Bob Dani, moderator of the “High Noon” club, a weekly gathering of conservative and libertarian activists.
