Ammunition In Such Short Supply Even Law Enforcement Is Rationing

“Our deputies are afforded X-amount of ammunition for practice each month,” Captain Michael Nelson of the Ward County Sheriff’s Department told KXMC reporter Shaun Sipma in a report, “and in light of the artificial shortage we’ve had to scale that back a little bit.”

Law enforcement scaling back ammo usage “a little bit” may not be something to get too excited about, but the fact that they’re having to ration ammo at all is interesting.

The question is, why isn’t there more ammo available? The increased demand for guns and ammo is nothing new. It’s been a phenomena over the last several years. So why haven’t gun and ammo manufacturers kept up with increasing demand?

We know the federal government is buying up ammo at alarming rates. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but is that a calculated maneuver to keep that ammunition off the market?

Congress is looking in to the federal governments purchases of ammo. They ought to look into what regulations or other red tape might be holding back the firearms industry from meeting demand from the public in general.
