Port: NDGOP contributions go negative in June amid more big-money refunds
MINOT — Last month, shortly after the controversial election of anti-vaccine, anti-gay culture warrior Sandi Sanford as chair of the North Dakota Republican Party, I reported on some big-money contributors pulling their money back.
Steve Stenehjem, the president of First International Bank, and his wife, Gretchen Stenehjem, were each refunded a $10,000 contribution, according to the party’s June report to the Federal Election Commission. That $20,000 represented nearly 15% of the party’s year-to-date contributions.
Now, the party has filed its July report, and it’s more bad news for the GOP. The disclosure details another $16,000 in refunds to Carma Hanson ($1,000), Perrie Schafer ($5,000), and Guy Moos ($10,000).
