Port: Doug Burgum isn’t seeing a polling bump from his presidential campaign announcement
MINOT, N.D. — The first time Gov. Doug Burgum showed up in a national poll of the Republican Party’s presidential primary, it was a survey conducted by CNN from May 17 to 20.
It showed him at 1% support.
Burgum’s candidacy has since been included in five additional national polls, three of which were conducted entirely after his announcement. He registered 1% support in two of them. In the rest, he came in at 0%. If the candidate was hoping that his announcement — which garnered a great deal of both local and national coverage — would give him a bump in the polls, that hasn’t happened yet.
The folks at Real Clear Politics maintain a rolling polling average calculation for the candidates. As I write this, they calculate Burgum’s aggregate support at 0.4%, tied with California talk radio host Larry Elder, and just behind Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who came in at 0.7%.
