Port: We can measure where the stupidity started
MINOT, N.D. — The anti-vaccine movement didn’t begin when our nation was convulsed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but those fraught years certainly added fuel to conspiracy theories about vaccinations that had been smoldering for generations.
And that fire is still burning in some troubling ways. During the just-completed legislative session, there was legislation, introduced by Sen. Jeff Magrum, a Republican from Hazelton, which, in its original form, would have implemented a total ban on mRNA vaccines. Essentially, the COVID-19 shots.
But it’s not just the COVID-19 vaccinations that are under attack. We are seeing significant declines even in traditional vaccines. The kind that Americans have been receiving for generations.
“Health department reports dropping rates of school immunizations in North Dakota,” Anne Sara Bien-Aime reports for WDAY. The data is downright alarming.
Kindergarten vaccination rates for “required” vaccines — DTaP, MMR, Polio, Hepatitis B, and Chickenpox — have plummeted since the pandemic years, according to Department of Health data.
