Port: Former Republican Rick Becker hatches conspiracy about why he lost the NDGOP endorsement

MINOT, N.D. — Back when U.S. Senate candidate Rick Becker was still a Republican, and campaigning for the NDGOP’s endorsement, he stood before an angry mob in Tioga and, while the crowd demanded political executions , he promised prison time for those supposedly responsible for stealing the 2020 election from Donald Trump.
“People need to go to jail,” he told his belligerent audience. “For god’s sake, they need to go to jail.”
Disgraced former President Donald Trump and many of his supporters think the 2020 election was stolen, and their only real motivation for making this claim, because they’ve offered precisely nothing in the way of supporting evidence, is that Trump lost.
Now Becker is claiming that the state convention, at which incumbent Republican Sen. John Hoeven received the endorsement of rank-and-file Republican delegates from across the state, was rigged. And, like Trump, the only motivation he has for making this fact-free claim is that he lost.
Becker offers this spurious claim in a recent fundraising pitch, and he does so as a way to explain why he left the NDGOP to campaign as an independent against Hoeven in the general election, despite a previous promise to respect the choice of convention delegates.
