MINOT, N.D. — One of the worst things about the Trump era of American politics is how many elected leaders, from the local level to national, have decided the path to electoral success is as a low-rent Trump impersonator.
And maybe they’re not wrong.
Maybe we Americans have stopped caring about the character and competency of our elected leaders.
Maybe we just want to be titillated.
In Fargo, city commission incumbent Dave Piepkorn is running for re-election. Even if you don’t live in Fargo, you’ve probably heard of this guy, because he routinely makes headlines with his churlish and childish antics during commission meetings.
