Insurance Commissioner’s Call for Free Coronavirus Testing Could Have Used Some More Thought
MINOT, N.D. — This week, Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread asked North Dakota’s insurance industry to waive any out-of-pocket fees for those seeking testing for coronavirus.
“Today, we asked our health insurers to waive any cost-sharing, including co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance for COVID-19 laboratory testing so that cost-sharing does not serve as a barrier to accessing this important health testing,” Godfread said in a release sent out by his office.

His well-intentioned impulse to do whatever he can through his office to help facilitate our response to the COVID-19 outbreak is indicative of his energetic and forward-thinking approach.
As a practical matter, this bulletin could have used some more thought.
