Plain Talk: Rep. Armstrong Says Demands for Full Mueller Report Are a “Political Stunt”
He was responding to a listener question about President Donald Trump’s proposal to shut down the border with Mexico. Armstrong says he opposes the move. “We need our trading partners in Canada and Mexico.”
Armstrong, who is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, also addressed the push from Democrats to get their hands on the full report from Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller. “I want as much of that report to be public as possible,” Armstrong said but noted that full release, even privately to members of Congress, probably isn’t possible because of the inclusion of grand jury testimony. “It’s against the law,” he said bluntly.
“Why don’t we subpoena Bob Mueller and have him come in and explain,” Armstrong suggested.
Also, Democrats seem to have made peace with the concept of federalism when it comes to marijuana. Perhaps they’re ready for a more fulsome embrace of the 10th amendment?
