Former Executive Director of the NDGOP Says He’s Voting for Hillary Not Trump
Here’s a down home example for how thoroughly the candidacy of Donald Trump has divided Republicans.
Matt Becker was an interim executive director of the North Dakota Republican Party, and after that he served as a campaign manager and staffer for Congressman Kevin Cramer starting in 2012.
Becker left Cramer’s office to pursue a business degree in California some time ago, but today has a letter to the editor of the state’s newspapers blasting both Cramer and his former employers at the NDGOP for their support for Trump.

“When I left my desk in Congress for business school at the University of California-Los Angeles last year, I took a political sabbatical. But as I watch my friends and former colleagues in the state GOP continue to stand by Donald Trump, I can no longer stay on the sidelines,” he wrote. “Even putting aside Trump’s misogyny, xenophobia, racism, birther-ism and lack of a single policy position he hasn’t reversed or lied about, his dangerous comments about nuclear weapons should be enough for anyone—including any Republican—to conclude he is entirely unfit for the presidency.”
Ouch.
I reached out to Becker today for an interview, but he said he’s “going to let the letter speak for itself.” He added that he’s voting for Hillary Clinton for President.
“I think President Trump would destroy the GOP and the only way to stop him is Hillary,” he told me. “I think the great irony is that Hillary will (hopefully) save the GOP from itself. It can recover from a candidate Trump, but probably not a President Trump.”
I’ll have Rep. Cramer on my radio show tomorrow to respond.
