Terry Bjerke: Vote To Keep More Of Your Own Money

My name is Terry Bjerke, and I am running for mayor in Grand Forks. I am campaigning on a pledge to not raise property or sales tax. We also need to review the city codes, as the people and businesses in this town are overregulated, overtaxed, and have been denied their property rights.

I plan on cutting the budget while going to a zero based budget system and will be reviewing all city positions. I am opposed to all corporate welfare. Unlike my opponent, I actually believe in liberty, property rights, and capitalism.

Our current mayor of sixteen years has been endorsed by the AFL-CIO. He has proposed property tax increases for ten consecutive years. He wants to raise the sales tax, and he is in support of taxing the internet.

I find it interesting to see and hear certain Republicans in Grand Forks are in full support of my opponent. Considering both candidates for governor have pledged to not raise taxes, why do these people support no tax increases at the federal and state level, but love to see tax increases locally?

Could it be that their hands are in the cookie jar, and as long as they get special treatment, they are satisfied with big government and tax increases?

My voting record over ten years on the Grand Forks City Council matches what I have said in this post. If you live in Grand Forks or know someone who does, please vote Bjerke for mayor.

Vote to keep your own money.
