Democrat Legislative Candidate Kris Wallman Criticizes Opponent For Being The Wrong Gender/Skin Color

Earlier today Democrat legislative candidate Kris Wallman, who is running for the state House in District 11, posted a comment on the campaign Facebook candidate Lucas Paper who is running in District 21 (both districts are in Fargo). The comment suggested that Paper and his running mate Robbie Lauf have the wrong skin color and gender and shouldn’t be elected to serve in Bismarck.

The comment has since been deleted, but a reader sent me a screenshot:

Paper, for his part, responded in a Facebook posting the way most reasonable people would, pointing out that things like skin color and gender shouldn’t really matter.

 

 

In the comments to Paper’s post, Wallman tried to backtrack on her original comments saying she meant no offense and apologizing.

Wallman, who is running unopposed in District 11, should be embarrassed. Judging someone based on their gender or skin color is offensive.

Ironically, as you can see in the photo above, Wallman’s running mates in District 11 are Rep. Ron Guggisberg and Senator Tim Mathern, both apparently white dudes.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Wallman’s gaffe is the latest in what has been a series of embarrassing social media moments for Demcorats. Rep. Gail Mooney of District 20 took to Facebook after seeing Rep. Kevin Cramer in a coffee shop in Bismarck, where she was attending a legislative committee meeting, saying the Republican made her want to take a shower.

A major contributor to state Senate candidate Erin Oban’s campaign in the hotly-contested District 35 race against incumbent Republican Margaret Sitte was caught on Facebook referring to Sitte as “the bitch.”

During the 2013 legislative session, Rep. Jessica Haak of Jamestown referred to House Majority Leader Al Carlson as a Nazi on Twitter.

And in 2012, on a blog run by one of North Dakota’s representatives on the Democrat National Committee, former state party chairman Jim Fuglie wrote a post speculating about whether Republican Superintendent Kirsten Baesler has breast implants.

Give these liberals credit for being willing to share their candid thoughts publicly, I guess. That’s rare in this modern era of tightly controlled messaging. But it also reveals some pretty ugly things.
