Whither the United Nations?

Speaking of the UN, it has been reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran, the same one whose quest for nuclear weaponry has finally caught the attention of the United Nations, has been selected as vice chair and Asia representative on the United Nations Disarmament Commission.

Now, take a moment and think about that.

Meanwhile, across the hall so to speak, the UN Security Council wrestles with the question of what to actually DO about Iran’s avowed pursuit of nukes, in view of the UN/IAEA report from Dr. el Baradei which notes Iran’s obstinate refusal to halt its uranium enrichment program.

It is beyond rational comprehension that anyone would take the so-called United Nations seriously anymore… never mind the idea of actually wasting money on the failed organization.
