Tom's Nap Room has a posting today regarding the Young Conservatives of Texas staging a bake sale to protest affirmative action.
These guys apparently sold cookies based on race, with whites paying $1.00 a cookie, $0.75 for white women, $0.50 for Hispanics and $0.25 for blacks.
Honestly, what a great idea to show the inequality of the entire system of affirmative action. The university where the bake sale was held, however, was not amused. Southern Methodist University shut the bake sale down after 45 minutes because it created a potentially unsafe situation.
"This was not an issue about free speech," Tim Moore, director of the SMU student center, said in a story for Thursday's edition of The Dallas Morning News. "It was really an issue where we had a hostile environment being created."
The group only sold three cookies for $1.50.
