According to the Grand Forks Herald, UND is dissolving its School of Communications as of January 1st, 2009.  The sad yet funny part of it is the lack of communication involved; it seems everyone from faculty to students was blindsided by the announcement!

But one department member in attendance said if it solved some of the “extreme dysfunction” in the department, it would a welcome change.

Communications problems in a communications program...ironic, isn’t it?  Actually, I think that’s good real-world training for those students, having worked in communications for most of last 20 years.  Some places I worked for suffered from the same issue from time to time!
