This is so tiring - does no one realize that he was JOKING? He wasn’t tired, mistaken, secretly giving a shout-out to the Islamic states. He has a sense of humor, and apparently one that is too subtle for a large number of people.

What was the funny part? I guess it was just an incredible coincidence that he cited the exact number of Islamic states, then? The guy had a Muslim childhood, a Muslim father and grandfather, a Muslim middle name, attends an America-hating church, and cites the exact number of Muslim states in his campaigning comment, and you think that’s funny?

As Greg Warren says, to be a joke, something has to be humorous, and have a punchline. Obama made a stupid gaffe because he was tired. As he himself has said. While it’s certainly not the big deal most SAers have made it out to be, Obama’s staffers have made it clear it wasn’t a joke. So by repeatedly claiming otherwize, you sound like an idiot.
Are there really? That is creepy.
