EL PASO - Mexico is one of two countries that “bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse,” according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats.
The command’s “Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)” report, which contains projections of global threats and potential next wars, puts Pakistan on the same level as Mexico. “In terms of worse-case scenarios for the Joint Force and indeed the world, two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico.

An army official then ordered all residents of Zeitoun to gather in Wael Samouni’s home around dawn on Sunday.

Then the unthinkable happened. Men, women and children, as small as months old were bombarded.

An estimated 70 people were killed. When ambulance personal reached them, they found about 15 still alive.

The started evacuating the injured and were able to take a number but had to stop as Israeli solders started firing on them. Several wounded had to be left behind.

When Did Israel Start the Gaza War?

According to Sara Roy, a Harvard University Middle East expert (see the January 2009 London Review of Books), the Israelis actually began the campaign to destroy Hamas on November 5 (only hours after US election results indicated a change of administration was coming in the US). To begin its attacks, the Israelis broke the truce that Hamas had observed for the past several months. Following that attack Israel has squeezed Gaza in virtually every possible way, blocking food supplies for United Nations Relief and Works and the World Food Program, refusing to permit entry of diesel fuel needed to run Gaza’s power station, interfering with the operations of Palestinian banks, blocking the movements of Palestinians, and preventing the entry of journalists or other observers into Gaza. There is no other example of a modern military power attacking an unarmed population this brutally and indiscriminately.
As Sara Roy and other observers describe it, the Israeli plan is to turn Gaza into a massive humanitarian problem that is devoid of any political dimension. That means the Israelis want the outside world to forget that the Palestinian people, especially those in Gaza, are the other side of the long-stalled Israel/Palestine peace process. Rather, with the Sederot rocket attacks as the excuse, the Israelis want the outside world to believe that the entire problem is the fault of the Palestinians. However, the Israelis attacks look like an obvious effort to kill, wound, dismember and render homeless as many Palestinians as possible before world reaction sets in.

The Trickle Effect

After reading and watching a lot of what transpired after the economic disaster, many thoughts came to my mind. To what extent will this problem reach? and for how long? and what will have to be sacrificed?

I humbly submit my prediction of what may transpire.

Action - A backlash is brewing. People feel the unfair balance of wealth sink in. The answer is tax the rich more and maintain current taxes to the middle class or possibly reduce them.
Reaction - If taxes exceed to a point where it isn’t worth the investment, the rich(investors) will look somewhere else to invest.

Result - A short turn benefit ( possibly by the time his first term is coming to an end) from taxing the rich. A long term reduction in income tax due to the fleeing of capitol towards more attractive and equally stable countries.

Effect on other countries - Countries with strong economic ties to the U.S. will feel the pinch faster and deeper. Canada comes to mind, as it provides millions of barrels of oil a day to the U.S. and many, many other raw material from lumbar to minerals. Countries like China will be also feel a wave of financial pain, but may be able to use it to it’s advantage by slowing down the fast pace of it’s economy and readjust itself to a new world.

The U.S. is still an economic power able to produce millions of everything from oil to wheat to meat. America will have to re-prioritise its objectives and make her more attractive to investors to return as the super magnet it always was.

McCain’s Health

For starters we here actually prefer McCain than Obama. We believe if Obama would be elected he would strive to force change in our country for change’s sake irregardless of it’s long term effect on stability and cohesion.

Saying that, I truly am concerned With McCain’s health. This man has a lot of medical problems, some life threating.

If this was Reagan no problem. His VP was Bush senior. But if McCain kicked the bucket, God help us all, Palin would take over. Complex multi-tasking abilities may not be her strong point.

She also gives a vibe of she’s way over her head.

This is no laughing matter. What was McCain thinking when he chose her?

Liebermann would have been a better choice.

      <dc:subject>Economy</dc:subject>

I wrote about a year ago hear in regards of the general health of the U.S. economy.

I was told that all is well and nothing will sink the S.S. America.

I then wrote also that every indication is that oil will be worth more than $100 per barrel and again I was told imposibble.

I now have a theory. I don’t know if anyone thought of it before this but I thought I’ll give it the say anything acid test, so here it goes.

I think that, if not all then most, banks with or without government agreement and after the subprime fiasco have sat down and put into action a plan to allow certain number of banks to declare some sort of bankruptcy / buy out every week.

This will allow the banks to maintain public confidence not eroding all together resulting in major uncontrolled failirues.

Even if I’m far from right I think it would be prudent to

a- immedialtly open several acounts with different federally assured banks

b- in medium term open an Euro acount to keep say 30 to 40 % of your savings which will appreicate regardless of interest made.

c- In long term Buy blue chip sound company shares when the market hits the bottom or there abouts.

Hope everyone comes out of this with the minimum lasses.

OK I,m ready with all the name calling and ridcule.
