Listening to NPR this morning about the battle in Sadar City half in sympathy to the Mahdi Army. I started to think about what reportage would have been if the same press flunkies would have been in force back before and during WWII.

Bill Moyers interviews Adolph Hitler and pronounced him a decent compassionate human being.

Stories of Death Camps are chalked up to warmongering NEOCONS. Kieth Olberman has it on good authority that no death camps exist.

Demands for congressional hearings by Harry Reid after the story of George Patton shooting a mule to clear the road for troops. Katie Couric does a week long special series on the pain and suffering of those impacted by the troops moving thru the countryside. An hour long interview with the man who owned the mule with tear filled stories of how much they miss that mule is on in prime time.

Live on the scene reports from Dresden Germany after Bombing. Stories of looting and historical sites being destroyed by right wing bombing. News reporters also say people died as well.

The bravery of Hitler as he committed suicide along with Eva Braun is polled by Jack Cafferty on CNN.

French Resistance fighters are called Rebels by the press.

I suspect that if I had any imagination whatsoever i could come up with a couple dozen more. But, I’m convinced that we would have LOST the Second War If the Media had behaved as they do today.

I mean, she put up a great fight. She made the case for her agenda as close as it was to Barak’s, pretty well.

She’s a tough ol bird and this was her last hurrah.

So, we got your basic Obama McCain match. Let’s assume McCain lives long enough to finish the campaign which is not a given in my book. He probably will beat Obama.

I mean, White crossover from conservative Dems, the home of Racism, will come to McCain.
Some Liberal disgusted with the Dems..
Hillary Disenfranchised.

Now, if McCain can just get Conservatives to vote for him he’d be in like Flynn. I’m not convinced that’s gonna happen any time soon. But, faced with the death of America as we knew it or McCain I guess we’ll choke down our oatmeal in November, put our extra duty nose clips on, and vote R. I said I will. I guess I will.

I’m just gonna miss the Hill. She’s been like that crazy girlfriend we all had once. Fun but not someone you’d wanna take home to momma.

McCain in O8 (if he lives that long) is my motto.

Then what if something happens and McCain takes a not so premature dirt nap, are we all gonna end up arguing about Huckabee, Gulianni, Thompson or Romney again?

What a bunch of dopes we are. McCain or Obama. We are sooooo Screwed.

The slippery slope, first ban smoking, then your guns

      <dc:subject></dc:subject>

This is a peek into the mind of people who want to take away your guns. They mean well. They are just misguided. The first is a letter from Saturday’s Chicago Tribune letter’s to the editor. The second was right below it. If you read them both you see what this debate looks like in Chicago. So you don’t think this is isolated, what happens here creeps out to the rest of the country slowly. I think our second amendment rights are on the endangered species list.

FIRST LETTER

Tobacco is legal. But it is also harmful. After compelling evidence showed the growing number of unintentional deaths and disease caused to nonsmokers by cigarette smoke, strict health laws were enacted in Chicago, which now severely restricts public use of tobacco.

So why aren’t more restrictive gun laws seen in the same way?

Unconstitutional?

Surely the Constitution guarantees a citizen’s right to light up a legal substance.

But the Constitution also guarantees life and liberty--or the right not to have cancer blown into your lungs by others.

When called upon to protect citizens from the harmful effects of modern innovations, our laws are meant to be equally innovative for the greater protection of all.

I applaud Mayor Richard M. Daley’s fist-pounding and frustration over the continued lack of understanding of this basic concept. Excessive cigarette smoke in our community kills people who do not smoke. Guns in our community kill people who do not own guns.

It’s time for owners’ rights to take a more measured, reasonable importance. Theirs is not a right that should supersede all others, particularly life.

//////////////////////////////////

SECOND LETTER

Then what?

Many people (and not just criminals and crazies) will never turn in their weapons.

How do we find all those guns?

We can’t just wait until a gun is used and then confiscate it.

Then it’s too late.

It’s easy to say we should get rid of guns.

But can we really do it?

Say we forbid all private ownership of guns.

And we don’t know who has guns or where they are kept.

Where does that leave us?

I’m afraid that the police must have the power to do the following:

* Set up roadblocks at random and search every car and its occupants.

* Board buses and trains at random and frisk everybody.

* Search houses and businesses at random.

* Cordon off public areas such as malls and frisk everybody.

In short, the police must be allowed to search any person and any property at any time, with no probable cause needed.

Are we ready to give the police such sweeping power?

And will anything less do the job?

If, like me, you don’t want to live under a government with such power, then face it:

We won’t ever rid of the guns.

Instead we will have to analyze our society to find out why we are so ready to kill each other and then figure out how to change ourselves. And that will be a difficult job.

It’s so much easier to just spout off about getting rid of guns.

Wiretapped Phone Call transcript between Rev Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama one week ago:

J Good Morning
B Hey Rev
J Barry my boy, hows it going
B Good but you got my butt in deep doo doo.
J Hows that?
B You know that God Damn America stuff
J Yea, what about it?
B Causing me all kinda trouble out here. I might not be President if I don’t fix this
J What do you want to do>
B Here’s the plan. I’ve already distanced myself from you in Philly. You could act all ticked off that I sort of threw you under the bus.
J Well, I can’t take back all those things I said in sermons all those years. The Republicans have tapes and CD’s of everything I ever said so they’ll hang that around my neck come November and get you unelected.
B OR, here’s the cool part, you could make some speaches, be all cranky, radical, over the top, combative, nutty and say things like you’re coming after me. Way I figure it, you could come up with some wild conspirisy theories. People would see that I’m the good cop and you’re the bad cop. I’m the sane one and you’re the nutcase. Heck you got that big house in the burbs now. Life is good. You don’t need this. I think if we play our cards right we could get some sympathy votes for how mean you are to me. I mean you could be downright abusive. What do ya think.
J So basically you want me to take a dive for you. Is that it?
B Yep, but think of it, when President Obama takes the oath of office next Jan you’ll be right there at my side. Won’t it be sweet. I’ll make you secretary of something or another. Michelle and I can have you right there with us. We’ll show em.
J. Not bad, not bad at all. OK, I’m in. Let’s make it look like Hillary set this up. Let’s get every Republican and Conservative Blogger in the nation to take after me. In fact if Daily Kos and Huffington start to distance me from you we’ve got it cut.
B. RIGHT ON
J. I’ll make a few calls, this is going to be so much fun. Today, Chicago, TOMORROW THE WORLD....BWAHHAHHAHHAHHA (Demonic evil laugh)

Of course this is all the mindstorm of ME, GENE. But, could it be we have just been had by some really clever folks.

Why High Oil Prices Won’t Stay High

      <dc:subject></dc:subject>

When Crude Oil Hit 60 bucks a couple years ago I made the comment that every geologist in the world would be looking in his back yard to find new oil. And they have. I said that we’d see Oil Rigs in State parks. We will.

At a hundred plus bucks a barrel they are gold rush crazy.

Course what goes up has to come down. I see every day new doom and gloom. Look here, Gasoline at 10, 20 bucks a gallon. Oil at 250 a barrel. Hogwash!

Even if we never came up with direct alternative substitutes (which tens of thousands of independent scientists are hoping to create and get on the market quickly), even if we never converted one ton of Coal to oil, Even if we never processes another grain of Oil Sand we have discovered more Oil than we can possibly burn for the next hundred years.

It’s not easy Oil. There is no Peak Oil. That concept is brought to you by the same fearmongers that brought you global warming caused by humans. There IS peak EASY OIL.

The reality is in the last 24 months there has been HUGE ENORMOUS stashes of oil discoveries worldwide.

But to learn about this you have to do a little work.

Google the term OIL FIND and Pick ANY of the Following Countries or States and you will see.

This isn’t off of them, just the ones it took me 3 minutes to uncover:

Oil Finds

Brazil

Cuba

Dakota

Alaska

North Sea

Kenya

Sudan

Nigeria

China

Gulf of Mexico (non US)

Uganda

Sunni Iraq

Kurdistan

Ghana

Thailand

Cambodia

Vietnam

Norway

Indonesia

Australia

Belize

India

Tanzania

Canada

Angola

Libya

Here’s the critical issue in all this. NONE OF THESE ARE BEING EXPLOITED NOW. None are yet on line. They will be, SOON.

All have yet to be developed. All have yet to be accessed. We don’t have peak oil, we have peak easy oil. Some will be harder than others. But, I trust that we will figure out how to do even that.

I’m guessing looking at this list you didn’t even know some of those countries were oil producers or had discovered oil in their own territories.
