Regular Guy Rant: Remembering the Liberal of the Senate

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

Now before I get into this rant I want to make one thing clear and that is that my thoughts and prayers go out to the Kennedy family. I don’t agree with their politics and I especially didn’t like the fact that the late Senator Kennedy didn’t spend any time in prison for one particular antic, but I in no way wanted the man to go out with cancer. That is hard on any family and I would never wish that on anyone. I recently attended a God and Country conference in St. Louis and prayed for the Kennedy family. Cancer is a terrible disease and my heart goes out to all those that are fighting it.

Now with the disclaimer out of the way, I feel like I have a duty to examine some of the finer moments in the career of Senator Edward Kennedy and make a few comments regarding the mess that is Massachusetts.

First of all I want to analyze the whole Kennedy name and say for the record that I don’t get it. I’ve read where the Kennedy family is so beautiful and how everyone wishes they could be a part of the dream that is Camelot. Sorry folks, if Kennedy equals beauty, then I will stay ugly. It isn’t their looks that make the women faint; it is their wallets combined with a bit of power. This is a dynasty that took hold due to a friendly media that capitalized on the American desire to have our own royal family.

I mean let’s face it, if JFK and RFK hadn’t been tragically murdered, then the whole Kennedy thing might look a whole lot different. President Kennedy had some positive attributes to be sure, but would he be so idolized if he had lived? If he had been in the White House as Vietnam escalated or if his wandering eye had been exposed would he have been considered the best of the best? Remember this is way before President Clinton made Oval Office “partying” popular. Papa Kennedy pulled a lot of strings to get his favorite son elected to the White House and that investment carried over into Robert Kennedy and the less talented Teddy. In a twisted form of irony, the murder of the President and his brother made the Kennedy family more popular, shoveled over their shortcomings, and ended up making and saving the career of Ted.

Now despite the great advantages that were handed to Ted Kennedy, he still tried his hardest to derail his own political career. He worked overtime to embarrass himself and his family. If someone with the last name of Bush, Reagan, or Palin had done 1/100th of the things Kennedy did during his career they would have been ran out of politics on a rail. I don’t even think Bill Clinton could have rescued his career if he had pulled some of Big Ted’s stunts. I personally still believe that if global warming liar Al Gore hadn’t been Clinton’s VP then he might have been tossed out by the Senate for his stunt, but that’s a rant for another day. No, Teddy holed up in his left wing fortress of Massachusetts and weathered storm after storm. People get mad and rightfully so at the miscarriage of justice in the OJ Simpson trial, but people, the Kennedy’s made getting out of a jam into an art form.

The Chappaquiddick incident of 1969 was one such jam that should have been more thoroughly investigated and in my opinion should have saw at minimum Ted Kennedy removed from the United States Senate and at a maximum a healthy jail term (Big Ted received a two month suspended sentence). However, he is a Kennedy, so either was out of the question. Was Teddy drinking that night? He denied it (big shock) and I guess we should believe him since he was never known for tipping the bottle right? Mary Jo Kopechne lost her life and Ted didn’t have the common decency to immediately report the incident to a police officer or to ever come clean on the events of that night. No, old Ted just went out and won reelection. I’m not sure who comes off worse from that incident, Senator Kennedy or the sixty plus percent of Massachusetts that sent him back to Washington.

Does anyone remember that Senator Kennedy was kicked out of Harvard for letting someone else take a test for him? Yeah, amazing isn’t it. The party that has “the smartest people in the world” produced another one in Ted. A little reckless unlicensed driving at law school? No worries, he’s a Kennedy and he’ll take the express elevator to the United States Senate. How about ol’ pappy Kennedy pulling some strings to keep the Tedster out of Korea? Controversy? Nah, it’s a Kennedy, not a Bush. The personal life of Senator Kennedy isn’t even worth getting into to be honest. If you want to know what it was like, just watch a few seasons of Dallas, mix in a couple years of the Young and the Restless or Days of our Lives, and then sprinkle some Hustler magazine on top of it. To say that he kept the family tradition of “booze and broads” alive and well is an understatement.

The long and I do mean long Senatorial career of Ted Kennedy isn’t even a mixed bag. He was a liberal through and through. I don’t mean he kind of leaned to the left, no, I mean he was a full blown liberal. If you think that socialized health care is a neat thing, then you would think Teddy was a neat guy. Senator Kennedy was one of the pioneers of this failed and truly scary idea. The National Journal gave Kennedy close to a 97% liberal score in 2006. Yeah, that’s old Ted, a real lover of liberty. Any guesses who started the biggest tax payer rip off in history (Gore is trying to break that record with some good ol’ global warming nonsense)? Yep, everyone’s favorite drinking buddy Ted Kennedy was at the forefront on that monstrosity. A fifteen billion dollar (at this writing) mismanaged mess that ripped the heart out of every taxpayer (too bad the media didn’t go after the big dig like they did WMD or waterboarding). Now, don’t we just have to have that government ran health care that Teddy loved so much?

A flip flopper? Hey, John Kerry learned from the best in the senior Senator from Massachusetts. Vietnam? Kennedy flip flopped. No Child Left Behind? Flip flop. At least he was consistent with abortion. On that one he only went against his church. Kennedy was about as pro abortion as they come. Kerry to become President? No worries, let’s strip Governor Romney of his power to appoint a replacement. Kennedy near death? No biggie, let’s give the power back to the Democratic Governor. Hypocritical? Who cares, this is Massachusetts and a Kennedy is pushing the agenda. It’s all good.

If there has ever been a case for term limits it is when the name of Ted Kennedy is brought up. I mean even now when he has passed on there is talk of bringing in another Kennedy (RFK’s son Joe) to replace him (they seem to get less and less talented by the way). Since when does an American Senate seat have to be held by the same family? Oh, since the Kennedy’s came to prominence in Massachusetts that’s when. Now I don’t know if Hugo Chavez’s buddy (no joke here folks) Joe is going to run or if he will just keep cashing the paychecks on the civilian side, but if he does he will probably end up winning the seat. That is the state of affairs in Chicago east aka Massachusetts (I’m purposefully resisting calling it the Commonwealth like all the talk show hosts who get so giddy when they say it). If Massachusetts wants to dig out of the rut they are in and escape the bonds of socialism, they need to make sure a Kennedy doesn’t replace another Kennedy. All of America better hope that doesn’t happen. As it stands right now we essentially have a socialist/communist state in the union. The people of Massachusetts (this is the state that has given us Barney Frank and Ed Markey for crying out loud) have enough problems with John Kerry in the Senate; they don’t need another greedy and corrupt politician pulling the strings. Sadly, that’s probably what they will get.

So do I have anything good to say about a man who gave his life to the service of his country? The great and noble Ted Kennedy must have something good about him right? Well I will say this and that is that I believe he cared about his state (as long as they kept electing and forgiving him), his family, and he was basically respectful to the office of the Presidency regardless of who held it. If he had been a little more viscous he might have knocked President Carter off during their primary war. Even though I think President Bush made a serious mistake allying with Kennedy with the education bill, I did take note that he (Ted) always treated the President with tremendous respect. Yes, he talked the mad trash that the lefties always do, but he never reached Gore or Pelosi level with his rhetoric (that I ever heard). So there you have it, a couple of nice things to say.

The legacy of Ted Kennedy will be a mixed bag. In death he will be hailed as one of America’s finest Senators when in reality that couldn’t be further from the truth. He will be used as a figurehead in promoting the socialist health care agenda of President Obama. He will be mentioned every time John Kerry or the rest of the lefty loons get in trouble with their constituents or when they need a second on the nightly news. I’ll bet Kerry mentions him at least a dozen times the next time he is on a morning news program. One dozen “Vietnams”, one dozen “It’s Bush’s fault” and one dozen “Senator Kennedy was a friend” makes for a classic John Kerry interview. The Kennedy name will be around long after all of us are gone. The media just can’t help itself. Many of us will be scratching our heads years from now when they are still trying to convince us of the beauty and majesty of the Kennedy family. Some things never change.

In a twisted sense of justice, it will be (despite the media’s best efforts) the Chappaquiddick incident that will be the lasting legacy for Ted. He will always be dismissed as the “third Kennedy brother” but unlike JFK and RFK he will always be remembered for his role in the death of one of his fellow human beings. Ted Kennedy avoided justice in life, but it will be served in death.

    RIP Senator Kennedy.

Regular Guy Rant: Vacations, Wee Wee, Morons, and Cowards

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

It’s time for another “hit and run” version of the Regular Guy Rant. I’m going to do what our friends in the mainstream media do and cherry pick the items that intrigue me the most and then I’m going to micro-analyze them to death. Obama on vacation? Check. Obama telling us we’re all wee-weed up? Check. New York Governor Patterson blaming his problems on race? Check. Health Care Teleconferences? Check.

OK, first I want to talk vacation. Now do you remember when President Bush would go to the Crawford Ranch and take his “vacation” every summer? I do and I also seem to remember a bunch of hairy legged hippies protesting him on the war and a gleeful media jumping for joy at every “clever” insult hurled the President’s way. I also seem to remember a never ending debate over whether or not Bush was entitled to a vacation while there was a war going on. How dare Mr. Bush! How dare this man try to get away with his family and take a breather from the sewer known as Washington DC! I remember journalists basically accusing him of running away from his problems. My how the worm has turned.

OK, for starters a President never really vacations. At least not in the sense that we vacation. Sure there are Presidents with a low IQ like Jimmy Carter who go so far as to try and lose the nuclear football while vacationing (an impeachable offense in my book), but these men are never really away from the job. Just because we see them riding a mountain bike or chopping down a tree (all things I doubt you’ll see Mr. Obama do because that might wreck a fingernail) doesn’t mean there isn’t a secret service agent in a nearby tree or an aide with a secure phone just out of the picture. These men are on the clock 24-7 and that’s just the facts. However it’s interesting that when Bush vacations it’s some kind of crime, but when it’s good ol’ Barry Obama it’s all good.

Economy in the toilet? Health care debate spinning out of control? America losing confidence in its President? No worries, Obama’s just “chilling out” according to Newsday. In fact he wants the media to respect his privacy. Well I do think the media should leave his children alone and if he decides to take Comrade Michelle on a romantic moonlight walk on the beach the only prying eyes should be that of the Secret Service. I have no problem with that in the least. But if he seriously thinks America will just turn a blind eye to the President, then he is even less intelligent than I’ve long suspected. Mr. Obama, you are the President of the United States. We all know you’re still orchestrating your health care argument while on vacation and so I ask you, why is it fair for you to do that but it’s not fair for us to pay attention to you? It was OK to question every move of your predecessor while he vacationed. It’s funny; because you prove day in and day out that you honestly believe your own hype. You really do think you’re special. Sorry Mr. President, it doesn’t work that way.

Mr. Obama is going to attempt to lay low and manage things behind the scenes. He’s going to try and escape the cameras and his new habit of sticking his shoe in his mouth every time he talks. He’s going to try and get his plunging poll numbers under control. He’s going to hope that Joe Biden steps in dog manure and calls it chocolate so America will focus on something else. It was fine and dandy to criticize Mr. Bush for taking a vacation during a war, but it’s suddenly not OK to criticize when Obama does the same thing while we have a war and an economic crisis happening. I’m happy that America is seeing through this man. Enjoy your time with your family Mr. President, but know that since you’ll be working the phones and emails arguing your side of the health care issue, so will we. You’re in the big leagues now, so you better get used to it.

Speaking of General Secretary Obama, I wanted to comment on his little “wee-weed” up comment. I’m sure you all remember how our President said that there is something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee-weed up. Wow. Did that really come out of the mouth of the President of the United States? Did I misread that and it was actually Joe Biden who said the words “wee-weed up”? I could mention that there would have been an uproar if Dan Quayle or George W. Bush had used those words, but if it comes from the mouth of that funny man Barack Obama then it’s all good.

Now I’m not going to get into a whole big thing about a few stupid words being muttered, but I do want to point out that Mr. Obama has once again shown to the world that he lacks Presidential timber. We are having one of the most crucial debates in American history. Literally freedom versus socialism. Good versus evil. This President describes his opposition as getting “wee-weed up.” We already knew that Obama thought of us common folk as being stupid, but he apparently thinks of his opposition as being (excuse me for using this word) retarded. I’m not mad at Obama’s choice of words, but disappointed. Hey Obama, did Mitt Romney make a messy in his diapey because he criticized you? Obama, did Sarah Palin step in the poo-poo when she pointed out your health care plan had death panels? Obama, did you and Joe Biden get a little tipsy bipsey when you had your beer summit? Ridiculous comments from a man who is making Jimmy Carter look intelligent.

Governor David Paterson of New York recently blamed a racist media as pushing for him to step aside in next year’s election. In fact, he is doing what most liberals do when they have been found out as being frauds and that is to blame it on the racists, sexists, or homophobes. Yeah, that’s right; you can’t criticize the man without criticizing a race of people. In this day and age this is absolutely ridiculous. Patterson isn’t being criticized because he is black, he’s being criticized because he has failed on the job. In fact, I would go so far as to say he has been a laughing stock to the rest of the country. I’m not just picking on New York, Patterson, or Democrats, as I would say the same thing about Arnie Schwarzenegger in California. Our two most important states being ran by two massive failures. One admitted liberal and the other in the closet.

Patterson’s approval ratings have dipped to 18% and no one can tell me that it is only white people who have turned their back on him. He’s one of those true “unifying politicians” as he gets people of all colors to detest him and his policies. Do you want to know how uplifting Governor Patterson is? He takes pride in the fact that at least they (New York) aren’t in as big of a mess as Michigan, California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania (notice who controls all of those states). Wow, Governor, I see your point now. All of the critics must be attacking you because of your skin color and not the fact that your point of pride is that you’re slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) better off than the train wreck that is Michigan and the far left loon states of Massachusetts and California. Come on Governor, you can do better than race, be like your buddies Obama and Frank and blame it on Bush. Come on, you can do it.

I probably speak for many New Yorkers when I say it’s not a dislike of African Americans that turn people off to Governor Patterson; it is impatience in uncertain economic times to down and out morons. That’s what you are Governor and that’s why you won’t come anywhere near reelection. Be a man and acknowledge your mistakes and fix them. Don’t be a baby and blame it on the racial boogeyman.

Finally, I want to touch on what people like Congressman Earl Pomeroy and Senator Amy Klobuchar call Health Care “Town Halls”. You see Mr. Pomeroy and Mrs. Klobuchar put on little teleconferences and try to make the rank and file citizen think it’s an actual town hall. Are they cowards? Are they afraid of their own constituents? Should we be concerned? Yes, yes, and yes. Pomeroy and Klobuchar live in states with some of the kindest most docile people in the world and yet they are afraid to face them. I’ll say this for Barney Frank, at least he was brave enough to come out of the little DC hole and look at his constituents. Why would the Barney Fife of politics, Earl Pomeroy be so scared? Klobuchar could come out on stage dressed as Darth Vader and could still hang her hat on the fact that she’s not Clown Franken. Cowardly and disgraceful for sure and a reason we should all be concerned.

If Pomeroy and Klobuchar are scared to face the public, then we should all be concerned that they will both go along with the so called liberal “nuclear option.” They are possibly the kinds of politicians that will line up blindly with the Marxist triad of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama. Obama’s henchman Raul Emanuel is preparing for the day when the Democrats will ram rod this monstrosity through the House and Senate and straight to the desk of Barack Obama. Pomeroy has been working hard to distance himself from Nancy Pelosi on certain issues, but he is loyal to fault and if she says vote yes you can bet he will do it. He can “Aw shucks” us to death (and I’m sure he will) come the next election, but he will be held accountable for his actions. The same goes for the senior Senator from Minnesota. If these two cowards play their little DC game and vote for this bill, then they need to go. They are part of the cancer that is destroying our country. When it gets to a point that you have to hide from your constituents then it is time for you to find a new line of work.

We are facing grave times my friends but the good news is that we are engaged and fighting (and winning) on multiple fronts. For every coward like Earl Pomeroy or Amy Klobuchar, for every big mouth like David Patterson, or every Marxist living in a fantasy world like Barack Obama there are thousands of you out there fighting the good fight. Let’s not give up and no matter what, let’s try not to make the President upset by getting all “wee-weed up”.

Regular Guy Rant: Almost Worst Person in the World

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

I had one of those moments tonight where I decided to actually look at MSNBC. I don’t know why, but it happened. No I’m not talking about the local NBC affiliates, but the national cable channel that gets the same ratings as the local yokel versions. I spent ten minutes submitting myself to something far worse than water boarding (remember when that was the hot topic?) and that is the smarmy smug Keith Olbermann and his horrible show entitled “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”. I didn’t make it far and I can’t tell you exactly what they talked about because I couldn’t take my focus off of Olbermann. I honestly think this guy is in love with himself, has a screw loose, and may be the most unpleasant person on television.

Olbermann is unpleasant? Oh say it isn’t so. Not the ESPN guy. Well folks, he was bad on that channel and he’s bad on the SS Titanic known as MSNBC. However it’s not to say that he doesn’t have an idea or two rolling around in that wax face of his and the idea I’m talking about is his whole “Worst Person in the World.” This is his clever little way of saying he hates someone. Now I don’t believe hating anyone is a good thing, but man can I dislike them a whole lot. So in honor of our soon to be unemployed MSNBC sports guy Keith Olbermann, I am going to have my own “Almost Worst Person in the World.” Yeah I said almost because as much as I don’t respect the goofs I’m about to mention, I don’t believe they are in the category of Castro, Chavez, or the little elf in Iran. There liberals, are you happy?

Nominees for “Almost Worst Person in the World” are:

1. Barney Frank. Oh no, we’re picking on good old Barney again. Yep, of course we are. I had actually kind of relegated him to that compartment in my brain reserved for cartoon characters or funny people who spit when they talk, but then he had to go and do that big town hall meeting. Was that stand up comedy or an actual sitting Congressman acting like a buffoon? Memo to Barney Frank, you don’t talk to your constituents like they are brain dead trolls. Some of them actually read the health care and cap and trade bills. Some of them actually read and watch the news and gather information from someone other than the want to-be God sitting in the White House. Some of them actually have a better pulse on America than you do Frank. They struggle to pay bills, put kids through college, and lead healthy families. They understand that the liberal march to socialism is bankrupting our country. Blaming it on Bush no longer flies Congressman!

You work for them Mr. Spittle. Give them some respect. You said that talking to them is like “talking to a dining room table.” Ha ha ha ha ha, Mr. Frank is so funny. No it is you Mr. Frank who has too much wax in his ears to hear what your constituents are saying. If the people speak, then you need to listen. Stop insulting your voters long enough to listen.

No Barney Frank is not the world’s worst ghoul (close second). No Barney Frank is not the world’s worst liar (Clinton, Obama, and Gore got him beat by a mile). No Barney Frank is a nominee for Almost Worst Person in the World.

2. Al Gore. Yep, it’s my favorite most best buddy in the world Al Gore. You remember
Al right? He’s the hypocrite who wants to get rich by lying about global warming? He’s the guy who lost his marbles when Bush beat him in Florida despite (Gore’s) trying to fix the election. He’s the guy whose tactics were later put into play by Clown Al Franken in Minnesota when he stole the election from Norm Coleman. He’s the guy who wanted to destroy heavy metal music until he realized that the big money was in scaring the pants off people about the state of the Earth.

So why in the world is Al Gore being nominated? He hasn’t done anything lately. No not directly. Oh sure he tried to take credit for President Clinton’s successful deal with the North Korean lil’ squirt which freed the “journalists” who were employed by his terrible Current channel. But no, that’s not why he’s being nominated. Mr. Gore is being nominated because yet another lie has been exposed concerning the Global Warming scam.

Yes, Gore’s friends at Greenpeace (these are the freaks that get in front of naval vessels which are moving at 10 knots and basically risk their lives and the lives of the sailors) admitted that they fibbed about the Arctic ice melting by 2030. Hmmm…isn’t this starting to be a habit? I mean aren’t a lot of the things that Gore and his friends keep saying turning out to be nonsense. Some others:
1. Mt. Kilimanjaro has melting snow and ice due to global warming. Lie.
2. Hurricanes like Katrina are caused by global warming. Lie. Not even possible.
3. Lake Chad drying due to global warming. Lie. Not possible.
4. Polar bears drowning due to global warming melt. Even Gore admitted this was wrong.
5. Sea levels (this is a Ted Danson special)to rise by 7 meters but in fact it looks like they will only rise by 40cm in the next hundred years. Just a smidgen of difference Gore.
All of these facts can be found on the Internet and I will credit newsbusters.org for some of the better items above. Greenpeace admits they lied and these lies always come back to the same man, one Albert Gore Jr. A lot of people said Vice President Cheney should stand trial because of water boarding. I say we have that trial with all the facts and then we put on trial none other than Mr. Al Gore (with all the facts) for fraud against the American people.

No Al Gore is not the world’s craziest person (I think Jimmy Carter might be a nose ahead). No Al Gore is not the world’s biggest scam artist (it’s a back and forth with him and Barry Obama). Al Gore is a nominee for Almost Worst Person in the World.

3. Ed Schultz is our final nominee for the Almost Worst Person in the World. I know, I know, you were hoping it would be Barack Obama and while I was tempted, I opted to go for Mr. Schultz. Sure Obama would have been good with all of his efforts to play God by trying to pressure us with words like “moral obligation” while urging health care support. But I know a genius like President Obama knows that a “moral obligation” should be by the people, business, and churches and not the United States Government. I know that the all powerful, all knowing President Obama is too smart to ever purposefully leave the word “abortion” out of the bill or including pork in it. No not our President Obama. Mr. Hope and Change would never demonize insurance companies or threaten to “go it alone”. No, not Mr. Obama. So no, President Obama is safe, but alas, Eddie (as he’s called in North Dakota) is not. No MSNBC’s lowest rated talk show host (sorry Olbermann he has you beat) is my final nominee for Almost Worst Person in the World.

Mr. Schultz I have heard you can be a nice man. I have heard that you care about your state and your country and so I will not criticize you on those points. I am going to blast off on your anvil shaped head because you have the gall to say that conservatives want to shoot the President of the United States. How dare you. In your desperation to save your failing show, you lowered yourself to the bottom of the pit. The men and women of this country who have served and are serving the United States military swear allegiance to the President. Guess what? They attend TEA parties and town hall events. Mom and Pop on Mayberry Street put their flag up every Fourth of July and salute the Stars and Stripes regardless of who is the President. He (Obama) is their President and they will defend him as they would this country. I personally can’t stand the man, not because he is black or liberal, but because he is a Marxist. I do not want the man hurt nor do other critics of his policies. There are fringe loons everywhere but they are in the extreme micro-minority. I could go on and on with examples, but you are so desperate for attention I doubt you would listen. I know you are smarter than that comment Schultz!

Where was your hooting and hollering when some idiots made a movie talking about the assassination of George W. Bush? Where were you when people burned figures of Bush alongside the burning of the flag? Do they have a right to do that? I guess they do, but I don’t recall you criticizing that protest. No you’re too busy making fun of people who have suffered from drug addiction or might be overweight. Look in the mirror pasty face; you aren’t exactly in line for the next Men’s Health cover. Is drug addiction funny? Is any addiction? Maybe you should replace Barney Frank on the standup circuit funny man. Maybe Minnesota needs another funny Senator to team with Captain Hilarious Al Franken. I had a smidgen of respect for you Schultz but until you apologize I have none. I have attended conservative events and never once did it enter my mind to hurt the President of the United States. It’s sick people like you who instigate things like that. You should be ashamed. Oh and did it help your ratings? Nope. You’re still getting steam rolled by FOX news and Rush Limbaugh. Big shock. I used to want you to come back to the conservative side, but man; until you apologize you can stay in left loon land. Are all the conservatives who supported you during your football broadcasts crackpots to or do you just reserve that for the conservatives who had no part paying your salary?

No, he’s not the world’s biggest blowhard (close, so very close). No he’s not the world’s worst radio host (I think his boy Franken was worse). Ed Schultz is however a nominee for Almost Worst Person in the World.

So who wins? Who is the Almost Worst Person in the World? Barney’s Frank? Nobel Peace Prize, Academy Award, Emmy Award winner Albert Gore Jr.? Ed “Follow the money” Schultz? Who? My friends, you decide. You can’t go wrong. Three jackasses. Take your pick. But please, I beg you, leave Mr. Obama alone. The poor guy has enough on his plate. You know, being bi-partisan, keeping Hillary Clinton out of the country, apologizing for America, helping Brazil drill for oil but preventing America from doing it, and having “Beer Summits.” Pick on someone else for a change. It’s Frank, Gore, or Schultz. Take your pick.

Regular Guy Rant: Obama’s Plunge

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

Americans can be a strange bunch at times. I’m as guilty as the guy next door in that my attention span is limited. We are bombarded by information and easily attracted to the latest fad. Some fads are quite nice and others make us want to hide under a rock a few months later. I still know people from Jr. High School who wore parachute pants, grew rat tails, and practiced break dancing. A number of my fellow Americans fell for a fad last year and I think a lot of them are ready to go find that rock I mentioned and climb under it. They were caught up in the Barack Obama fad and now I think they’re embarrassed by it.

President (man that hurts to type) Obama was a media created fad that rose fast and now is crashing back to Earth like nothing I’ve seen before. Even this country was united after 911 longer than the Obama post election honeymoon has lasted. Now could Obama rebound? I’m sure he could as the country can be fickle, but for some reason I think this is going to be lasting. I think the predictions that Mr. Obama would be Jimmy Carter part 2 is coming true and I’ll go further in saying that he may end up being far worse than the bumpkin from Georgia ever was. Let’s take a look at the rise and fall of Barack Obama and why we all need to be on guard because of it.

The rise of Barack Obama is a twisted and ugly road that many people are already familiar with. From his friendship with a terrorist to his racist Pastor to his brief career as a back bencher in the Illinois and United States Senate it has been a past that makes people uncomfortable when they hear about it. Obama spoke before the liberal convention in 2004 and became a media darling. He was a gentleman with a fresh face and the gift of gab (although that has since been exposed as artificially created as well). Half white, half black, young, and from a populous and driven (corrupt) liberal state, the left found a man to either secure the nomination in 2008 or become Hillary Clinton’s running mate. The treasured minority vote would be secure for generations to come.

The media went crazy and instantly began a love affair with Obama that went well beyond just bordering on ridiculous. Soon to be canceled talk show host Chris Mathews acted like a schoolboy with a crush on his teacher and his fellow future unemployed colleagues on MSNBC and CNN treated Obama like he was literally the second coming. It was sickening and extremely disturbing. Hollywood quickly broke from Hillary Clinton and rallied around their new star. They have to be associated with the most popular fad after all. After Obama took a cheap shot at Bill Clinton (Bill Clinton may be many things and I do not trust him, but he is no racist) and played dumb about his relationship with the terrorist and the anti-Semite, Obama surged to the nomination. He was going to stop the oceans from rising, heal the sick, and change America’s reputation in the world. He was going to negotiate with all nations and they would happily do the bidding of the world’s greatest man. I can even remember hearing that Obama was pro life, pro nuclear power, and favored low taxes. I knew he was full of it, but unfortunately many Americans did not. A star was born and a campaign tour that was essentially a Hollywood production translated into an election night victory over Senator John McCain. Not one American could name a single thing Obama had ever done to prove he was ready to be President (not even one piece of significant legislation he had wrote or pushed), yet he became the most powerful person in the world.

Bill Clinton went to the White House largely due to the media. They broke him down and then they built him back up again. 911 was all the craze after the attacks and then it was broke down. Everyone had a flag and then suddenly only half of us did. George W. Bush and his father for that matter were once two of the most popular Americans ever and then were broken by the media. Sometimes you come back (like Clinton) and other times you don’t. I tend to think that Obama will not come back. The media only likes you when you are interesting and they can sell their stories, but when the popularity comes to an end, so to will the popularity of the subject.

Now unlike the Bush family, Obama had everything going for him. The media doesn’t want to have to admit that the man they helped put in the White House is not anywhere close to being Presidential material after all (just like they didn’t want to admit that Bush beat crazy man Gore in Florida). Right out of the gate Obama started pushing an extremely far left agenda. I don’t mean a “sorta, kinda” Democrat agenda; I mean a far left loony agenda. All talk about Republican deficits (which is fair) went out the window. Obama dug us a hole so deep that most of us will be dead before it is paid off. He is trying to tax us into oblivion with the global warming tax (cap and trade) and with the horrible government ran health care plan. He is planning on taking away the secret ballot from the unions and planning a so called fairness doctrine to silence opposing viewpoints. He is also working towards hate crime legislation that will be used to silence churches and conservative groups. He has overreached and proven every single one of us who said he was a radical Marxist as being right. He is a rank amateur in the White House. The things he says when he is without his teleprompter border on recklessness. He has turned his back on Israel and made it policy to apologize to every radical dictator in the world. He has put us further and further in debt to Red China. He is proving to be a total disaster in the White House.

Now because Obama and his allies in Congress have “overreached”, he has awoken a long slumbering giant. He has rallied conservatives, moderates, libertarians, and even economic conservative Democrats in a way I don’t think his inflated ego ever allowed him to consider. Despite the whining from the left, it’s not because of his color but because he is breaking us economically. TEA parties, town halls rallies, and the growth of grass roots organizations are directly due to Obama’s policies. Long secure Senate and House members like Earl Pomeroy, Harry Reid, and Chris Dodd are suddenly in real danger of losing their seats. Their allies Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank are likely safe because of the districts they live in, but everyone else is on the table. The media has suddenly taken notice. Hollywood has gone silent. Begrudgingly the media is reporting Obama’s sinking ratings and I would predict the point will come when they will finally report that he is in deep trouble. They’re trying everything to protect him from saying the right is racist or Nazi’s (it wasn’t the right who turned their back on Israel Mr. Obama) to insinuating we’re all “dumb.” All it is doing is making the opposition stronger. The media is slowly turning on Obama. Facts are facts. The list of citizens disgusted with Obama’s behavior is growing.

So we know that Obama rose due to the media and we also know that his eventual bottoming out will be because the media will finally have to report what they can no longer ignore. They will have to acknowledge that many Americans do not approve of the way this President is behaving. Cap and Trade and Government health care (this alone will eat 1/6 of the American economy) may actually be defeated as more and more of Obama’s allies in Congress break from him in an effort to save their jobs. As the Bush tax cuts expire and the weight of the Obama economy begins to sink in he may reach popularity lows that equal Princess Pelosi’s. If Social Security or Medicare goes belly up his reputation may be beyond repair. My, how the worm as turned.

So why should we be scared? I mean Obama is sinking on his own and despite trying; he can no longer blame everything on George W. Bush or race. Well he not only will blame everything on Bush and race, he will try to do something to save his job and reputation and that is what scares me. Bill Clinton bombed Iraq during the Monica crisis, but what will Obama do during his own crisis? That’s what scares me. Will he force the passage of hate crime bills to muzzle us? Will he start a war to divert attention and get the largely patriotic American public to rally around him? Will he try to make an example of someone and destroy their reputation to silence them? This is what worries me. He is inexperienced and surrounded by reckless thugs (no offense Mr. Biden, you’re just a big mouthed buffoon). We need to be on watch because if his past history is any indication, Mr. Obama will do anything to get his way.

My guess is we are close to having a significant exodus of Democrat Congressmen breaking from Obama. We are close to seeing the end of the Clinton/Obama alliance. We are close to seeing the rise of a GOP leader. We are close to seeing a number of Congressmen voted out of office. Stay strong and march on. We are very close. The media and Hollywood received their great gift and because of that gift their vision of a socialist American might not happen. Obama has done this to himself.

Don’t believe me? Ask a Democrat you know if they voted for him and I’ll bet you get silence or a “well I wanted to vote for Hillary but…”. They’re finally getting it. Let’s hope we can make it four years without this guy breaking our country in half.

Regular Guy Rant: Liberal Lies about TEA Parties

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

It’s tea party time in the Red River Valley of North Dakota tomorrow. The events in Grand Forks and Fargo are the latest in a nationwide effort to make our elected officials wake up and actually listen to their constituents. These TEA parties will come at the perfect time since the various Senators and Representatives will be returning home after another “grueling” stay in Washington. The definition of home is quite relative if your last name is Dorgan or Conrad, but that’s a debate for another day. No today I want to talk Tea Parties and how our efforts are rattling the far left like they’ve never been rattled before. How do I know they’re rattling them? Because they are lying like crazy!

OK, here we go. This is how the far left is trying to deal with the TEA Party movement. It starts with ignoring the opposition, name calling, misinformation campaigns, more extreme name calling, and finally more extreme misinformation (with some fear tactics thrown in). We are currently on the last stages of their smear tactics and the good news is that none of them have worked. Finally I will tell you about the big false umbrella that they’ve tried to put over this whole thing and why it is most assuredly inaccurate.

Ignoring the Opposition. Who would have thought that a gathering of conservatives would attract so much attention? I mean at first it was dismissed as a gathering of a few irrelevant yokels and blatantly ignored by much of the media. Ignoring things like TEA parties or a conservative argument are the first line of defense for the far left. We’ll pretend that they’re not here and then it will go away. He who controls the argument usually wins the debate so why not make the debate partner invisible? So to make them invisible the far left decides to keep pushing their agenda all the while ignoring those with a different opinion. These people need to wake up and realize that it wasn’t like Obama and the gang won the election with 90 percent of the vote and can do whatever they like. There is a vocal minority out there that wants to be noticed. They thought they could count on the right to sit on their hands and do nothing (and to be fair this is what we usually do), but they were wrong. Ignoring us wasn’t going to work so it was off to stage two (name calling).

Name Calling. So what kinds of names will the liberals come up with this time? Let’s see…no they wouldn’t go so far as to say we were dumb would they? I mean they used that with Ronald Reagan, Dan Quayle, and George W. Bush. I mean, they wouldn’t call us dumb again …would they? Yes they did. MSNBC and CNN paraded out their Hollywood has-beens (I mean seriously, how much in demand is Janeane Garofalo?) and big shocker, they started name calling. Yes, the enlightened left started to call the common citizen dumb and insinuate that conservatives can’t handle someone with dark skin being in the White House. They conveniently ignored anyone with actual dark skin who attended the TEA parties. Oh and by the way, there were a number of different ethnic groups attending. But good old MSNBC and CNN concentrated on us hillbilly white folk. Criticizing or making a joke about a public figure (in good taste) is one thing, but attacking the common citizen is a whole different matter. Typical MSNBC.

Now not only were attendees dumb, but they were also racist. Yes, that’s right. If you oppose Barack Obama, you are a racist. Now you can boo an athlete of color and that’s OK, but if you dare to question the greatest of the greatest Mr. Obama, you automatically hate black people. Never mind that a great many of the TEA party attendees are married to, friends with, or served with people of color, it doesn’t matter because they are automatically racist. Also, let’s not forget that some of the people coming to the TEA parties actually voted for Obama. More and more people are figuring out that this guy is in way over his head and they now have buyers’ remorse. So does this make them racist? If you listen to the far left it sure does. Well after more and more footage leaked of multi-cultural TEA parties and events that featured speakers who had more economic knowledge in their pinky than Obama has in his entire brain, the “dumb” and “racist” names went to the back burner. But don’t worry, liberals have a limited vocabulary and they will be back soon. In fact, racism talk is just starting to come out of the mouths of Obama’s minions yet again.

Misinformation Campaigns. Did you know that the TEA parties are actually church funded events? That’s right; those pesky Christians are at it again. They’re staging these events and using them as a way to push their far right Christian agenda on the rest of the nation. Yep, that actually came out of the mouths or I should say pens of the left. You see they weren’t brave enough to say these things in person or on TV, nope, they had to stick to the newspapers with this one. Those religious groups still have a little power after all. If it’s not religious groups, it’ militia’s and if not a militia, then it must be some radical fringe group. You see these kinds of things serve two purposes. One is that they are designed to turn you off to the events and two they are designed to lay the groundwork for hate crime legislation in the future. Again, a debate for another day, but trust me, they are going to come after (or regulate) the churches at some point and a good old fashioned hate crime bill is the best way to do it. How dare those Christians say their religion is better than Islam! These kinds of campaigns are also great at muddying the waters and confusing the common citizen. Classic liberal move. Oh and if you don’t believe a little old conservative like myself, just ask Bill Clinton. He was hit with a racial misinformation campaign by Barack Obama that in my view will not be forgiven by the Clintons anytime soon. But a funny thing happened on the way to the lying booth. It was proven that the TEA Parties were grass roots events. Yes, they had nothing to do with churches, militias, or any other group. Just like minded people getting together to point out the reckless behavior of our government. Wow, that is crazy.

More extreme name calling. Now how do you get more extreme than dumb or racist? Oh yeah, how about Nazi or Thug? I guess name calling is all relative, but when you get into the Nazi and thug range it’s really starting to get ugly. Nazi’s? If anyone has ever read the book “Hitler: Hubris “by Ian Kershaw they will come away with a different view as to what party is more like the Nazi party. I’ll give you a hint; it’s not the party represented by the elephant but the party backed by the jackass (I’m talking about the party symbol and not Mr. Obama. No name calling here.). Are the conservatives talking about “getting in people’s faces?” Are the conservatives bringing in the Black Panthers, ACORN, and certain Union tough guys to intimidate people with different viewpoints? Of course not. It’s the other way around. Going the Nazi and Thug route is word intimidation and plain wrong. This is the modern Democratic Party folks. Ask yourself this if you are represented by a Democrat in Congress: Why aren’t they (your elected Democrat official) defending you from this name calling? If they refuse to say anything, then I can only assume they agree with it.

More extreme misinformation and fear tactics. This kind of thing is what the liberals do every election when they say that Republicans are going to eliminate Social Security. We lived through eight years of Ronald Reagan and eight years of George W. Bush and still we have Social Security. Wasn’t it Bush who attempted to fix Social Security? Hmm… Again, another debate, another day. No, the misinformation campaign right now is centered on who is funding the TEA parties? Who? They insinuate or flat out say it is the Republican Party. They insinuate that some secret conservative lobbyist is pulling the strings to keep the flames of hate moving. Trust me folks, neither is true. I wish the GOP was more involved in the tea parties and showing some real leadership, but unfortunately it is scattered at best. These lies (and that’s what they are) are designed to turn off or scare people. I mean who would want to turn up for a hate rally? That’s what KKK events are for and the vast majority of Americans do not attend these kinds of things. If they can convince people it is the GOP then they can rally the left against the evil Republicans again. If it’s the “dirty lobbyists”, everyone will want to go home and wash their hands. Trust me, if the GOP or a lobby group was behind the TEA parties, Christ Mathews and the gang would be giggling as they reported on one of the sinking ships that they call television shows.

So what is the great lie that umbrellas the whole movement? Well it’s been there all along, you just have to listen for it sometimes. It’s their get out of the argument card when they’re getting outdebated by conservatives for the umpteenth time. The great lie is that we (the TEA Party attendee) are against government. Yes, we’re totally against government. Memo to liberals, that is what an anarchist does, not a conservative. We are not against government for the millionth time, we are against BIG GOVERNMENT. We are against suffocating spend-crazy government. I know, I know, they’ll bring up Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Benefits and all the rest and do you know what, let them. You (or your employer) paid into these things and besides, it’s nothing but a distraction. I think everyone of us could live with Social Security if that’s where we drew the line, but nope, let’s have Global Warming taxes on top of that. They will try to cherry pick some nutty government program that a relative of yours once used and they will attempt to get you to make up an excuse for it. Don’t make up on excuse. If a relative used it, then they used it. Big whoop. It was available and they took advantage of it. Be honest or you’ll be like them. You see it never ends.

So how do I know that I’m right and they’re wrong? Well let me first ask you a question. What is the primary purpose of government? Any takers? It is to protect our freedoms. It is not to tax us into oblivion. It is not to regulate every aspect of our life. It is not to decide what words we can say, what kind of shirt we can wear, or to build us a big sports stadium. It is to protect our freedoms. This isn’t hard. In order to do this we need a government. We need a police department, fire department, and a military. We need reliable infrastructure. We need a rule of law. Yes, oh no, I’m about to say it, we need some taxes to fund the things needed to protect us. I know this is right because even a liberal has to agree with these things. Protection, infrastructure, and a rule of law are things every American can appreciate and agree on (now when we get into things like the Big Dig or the San Francisco Bay Bridge we might have some debate, but that’s OK). Even some drugged out Berkeley hippie has to agree with this. So match to the umbrella lie. That whopper is now burnt up. Against government? Please.

So those of you attending TEA parties this week in North Dakota and across this nation as we head into late Fall, please use this as your guide when battling the left. This details all of the things they will say or call you. Oh sure, you might get the fringe liberal who will call you a neo-con or something like that, but that’s a loser as far as a “dirty name.” You might even get the classless loser who will drop a four letter bomb on you because you have the gall to speak out. Brush it off and stand tall. Heck, you might get the liberal who whines, “Where were you when Cindy Sheehan was protesting the President?” Be honest, you didn’t agree with her so you didn’t show up. It’s not like you wanted to hurt her. No, that was Nancy Pelosi last year in the election who smeared her when Sheehan had the nerve to call out Madam Speaker. You’re doing something my friends. Reach out your hand to your curious Democrat neighbor and tell them there is nothing to fear. We’re going to right this boat and it’s time for all hands on deck.

Regular Guy Rant: Conrad, Clinton, and a Crazy Ayatollah

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

I thought today would be a good day to do a series of quick hits or hit and runs. I’ve been analyzing the news the last few days and it seems like there is so much stuff going on that I can’t concentrate on any one thing. I mean we have cash for clunkers, Bubba heading off to see lil’ Kim, and a series of ethically challenged Senators to think about. Throw in health care reform, Congressmen hiding from their constituents, and the threat of an Iranian nuclear bomb and you can see it’s almost more than any one political geek can handle. Ahh, what the hey, let’s give it a shot. A good rant is good for your mental health.

Cash for Clunkers? Leave it to the federal government to promote and fund a program that goes out of business in less than week. They burned through one billion dollars in less than a week people. Think about that. If you had a lemonade stand and were twenty dollars in the hole for a week you would pack it in and go back to trading marbles or baseball cards for excitement. The Feds? Nope, let’s see about adding another two billion to the program. Charles “The Big Mouth” Schumer (Cry Baby-NY) and the walking wax figure Dianne Feinstein (Far Left Loon-CA) are pushing for further funding. For what? So the program can go two more weeks? If anyone thinks the federal government can “create” something, they should take a long look at this program.

I have nothing against someone taking part in a program like this. If someone feels like this can help them and if it helps the car dealer, then as a fellow human I wish them best. But let’s be real, the American tax payer is funding this and it now needs to end. One billion dollars isn’t chump change. People sit around and complain when a pro athlete makes fifteen million dollars a year but these same people applaud when the feds flush one billion (with more on the horizon) down the toilet? It makes no sense. I would get into the nuts and bolts of this program, but it would make even less sense. End this program now.

Now I’m reading that Bill Clinton is rolling off the couch to take a little side trip to North Korea to free two journalists who are being held by the little square headed madman Kim Jong Il. Boy, it just never ends. OK, I’m not going to get into the whole thing about these two women stupidly being in North Korea. I mean would any of you enter a rattlesnake den willingly? The two reporters who work for Al Gore’s Current channel should have known better. Now that being said I don’t want any American to have to sit in a North Korean prison. So with that, I wish President Clinton all the luck in the world. As far as the Current channel goes? Just stay out of North Korea.

What worries me is that Clinton is likely carrying a message from Comrade Obama. North Korea is going to let Clinton in the country so this leads me to believe that some back door diplomatic work is going on. Since Kim Jong Il is notoriously difficult to communicate with, I would guess that Obama is sending a message of some sort with Clinton. I would imagine that America’s rock star is going to attempt to buy off lil’ Kim. North Korea loves a payoff and they know they can count on the Clintons for one. Obama might be offering them money, trade, or even security guarantees. Who knows with this guy? My guess is that Bubba will come back with the Current gals safely in tow and then give all the credit to Hillary for her hard work behind the scenes. You better watch them Obama, they’re not true believers like most of the sheep who follow you.

Kent Conrad received his four year Government and Political Science degree from Stanford University. Now I don’t know which classes Senator Conrad attended while at Stanford, but looking at their Political Science offerings I see there is a POLISCI 133 “Ethics and Politics of Political Science” and ETHICSSOC185 “Contemporary Moral Problems.” Mr. Conrad did you take either of these classes? Mr. Conrad, did you know that if a government employee takes a gift or favor that they can be suspended, fired, or even brought up on charges? Did you know that? So if a government employee in this country is ever caught taking a gift, I would like you to keep your mouth shut. Don’t be a hypocrite. If it helps matters you can even have the North Dakota newspapers call the government employee a nice person so they can get off like you have. You disgust me Senator Conrad. We can’t even get an apology out of you.

I would pick on Chris Dodd from Connecticut as well but I have more pity for him than Conrad. You see big Kent went to one of the best colleges in the country, while Dodd learned at the bar stool from bubble nose Ted Kennedy. Yep, Dodd’s old drinking buddy and mentor was none other than Ted “hiccup” Kennedy. Don’t feel bad Chris, at least you didn’t drive a friend off a bridge and fail to report it. Both Dodd and Conrad should be removed from the Senate. You can bet if their last name was Coburn or DeMint they would be long gone.

Conrad is lucky since he isn’t up for election until 2012. He can still hold out hope that his buddy Obama might give him a job of some sort before then. Conrad stuck his neck out for everyone’s favorite Marxist and didn’t even get a nice cabinet job. I guess even Obama knows that adding another clown to his cabinet full of tax cheats would be just too much for the public to swallow.

I’m not going to Health Care you to death since everyone else is, but I do want to say I think this whole thing is going to get a lot worse. The fact that they didn’t vote on it means that they didn’t have the votes. That much is clear. What scares me is that they will continue to work deals with the so called “Blue Dogs” (Is that a joke or what?) to try and get some of them to get onboard. It also scares me that they will try to please everyone and work a compromise that still screws every single one of us. It won’t end either. They want to get their hooks in, have Obama say he fulfilled his campaign promise, and then start the process back up. This thing needs to be killed and killed now. This country is broke and we don’t want to stay broke. If any Congressman takes the time to read this, I am begging you not to do this to the people of this nation. Please don’t go down this road.

So are Congressmen hiding from their constituents? Try to find a town hall meeting and then you tell me. They are getting blitzed by angry residents who feel like enough is enough. How much more can people take? Congressmen who go to Washington and say one thing and then run home and say another seems to be the norm now. If an elected official is scared to speak to his own constituents then we have a problem folks. Oh and if you listen to these jokers they’ll try and soothe their constituents by saying there won’t be any middle class tax increase. Yeah, right. For one thing they hide the tax increases within cute little laws like Cap and Trade and Universal Health Care. They’re also all over the map about what “middle class” actually is. Finally my friends, if they’re talking about it then that means it’s seriously on the table. Beware. Find these fools and let the hard questions fly. Be respectful, but let them know that their jobs depend on their actions in the next few months.

Word is that the Supreme Ayatollah will decide on the future of the Iranian nuclear program (the bomb part that is) very soon. He will tell the little greasy dude in the 80’s jacket that they should go ahead and build them so they can hurry up and blow up Israel. If that doesn’t scare you, then you have problems. If they go ahead with this plan and I would guess that they would, then Israel is going to have to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities into oblivion. There is no other way. Obama is clearly anti-Israel and without the United States, the Jewish nation is alone. Something big could be on the horizon.

I read recently where Hillary Clinton brought up putting Israel under the United States Defense Umbrella. Yes that’s nice Hillary. You said the right things didn’t you? The Jewish voters at home can run around singing the praises of that tough little fighter, Hillary Clinton. Mrs. Clinton, that’s not enough. Tell your boss to stop kissing up to the Muslim world and tell everyone that we will defend Israel like we would defend New York City. I would go further and even say admission to NATO should be on the table. The days are going by. Iran is closing in on nuclear weapons. Israel is running out of time. The Middle East will explode into violence never before seen if something isn’t done. Where is Obama? Oh there he is, having a beer summit. Good job Barry O.

So there you have it, some quick hits to chew on. We live in a scary time both at home and abroad and our leadership is failing us. The main purpose of the United States Government is to protect us. It is not to promote unproven science like evolution or global warming. It is not to worship at the altar of the false messiah Obama. It is not to stick its nose into every part of our lives. It is not to literally sell us to China (Taiwan should be worried that we owe Red China so much money and that Barry Obama likes to make deals). It is failing us. We need government, but we need a government that listens to the people. Make a pledge this week to get loud. Call, write, town hall meetings, tea parties, or whatever else. Let’s take this country back before it’s too late.

Regular Guy Rant: The Poor Media

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

“Save the media” is the theme Dan Rather was trumpeting as he spoke to the Aspen Institute recently. The former CBS reporter who tried his hardest to discredit President Bush (fiddling with the truth regarding the Bush military record) is calling on one of his ideological soul mates, President Obama to rescue an entity that was crippled by its own hand. Normally I find this laughable, but the prospect of the Democrats losing their number one ally, the mainstream media makes me pause. I have a hard time believing they’ll just let it wither away.

Mr. Rather was quoted as saying “A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,” Rather said in an interview yesterday afternoon. “This is not something just for journalists to be concerned about, and the loss of jobs and the loss of newspapers, and the diminution of the American press’ traditional role of being the watchdog of power. This is something every citizen should be concerned about.”

Sorry Danny boy, I’m not concerned even one bit about the state of the mainstream media. Now I do not want anyone to be unemployed, but it is you and those who are in power in media who are responsible for the state of the business. You and the powers that be decided to fight wars, denounce America, and push the candidates that you love. You and your friends are responsible for the state of the media.

Let’s look at the media for a second. Isn’t it true that there are basically five major media conglomerates? Also, isn’t it true that out of that five that four of them are leaning or full blown liberal entities? There is News Corporation (FOX) that leans to the right and there are the rest like Disney (ABC-The All oBama Channel), Viacom (CBS), Time Warner (CNN), and General Electric (NBC) which are clearly liberal. Gee, Mr. Rather, who runs the media?

The major newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and the New York Times are all vessels of the far left. Of the major papers, I can only think of the Wall Street Journal and Washington Times as having a conservative tilt. These papers continuously blast off on the right and defend their messiah and what has it given them? Massive and potentially business ending losses. Oh sure, you can say the Internet has hurt them and I would agree, but if there was such a demand for what they put out, they could easily charge for access to their material and keep things afloat. Nope, it won’t happen, because most people do not want to access their material. Why, when it only regurgitates the same old far left nonsense over and over. Obama can do this, Obama can do that, blame it on Bush, etc etc. Who would want to pay for that nonsense? It goes from being news to being propaganda.

Don’t worry Mr. Rather; I won’t bring up the radio. Liberals simply cannot compete on the radio. It has been proven time and time again. Liberals simply do not offer any ideas. It’s just the same old complaining and bitter snipes at George W. Bush. They can’t debate anything because as soon as they start to lose the war of ideas (which they always do) they will then revert to name calling. I’ll even bet that some responses to this article will bear that out. Liberalism and radio simply do not mix.

What Mr. Rather and his ilk simply cannot admit is that conservatism sells. Mark Levin, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity have proven that conservative books can not only sell, they can dominate. Rush Limbaugh continues to rein supreme over all of talk radio because he offers ideas and debate. How do the liberals counter Rush? They call him a racist. Real class. Make up a lie about your enemy. Classic Clinton/Obama. Fox News doesn’t just beat their competitors, they totally dominate them. MSNBC is hemorrhaging and not even the biggest liberal in the world can honestly debate that (well they wouldn’t debate it; they would just call a name). CNN is a shell of its former self. I remember during the Gulf War and the Clinton/Bush/Perot era that CNN was must see. Now the same guy that led their channel is a fossil who giggles over an interview with Jermaine Jackson.

More and more people are turning the channel and canceling their papers than at any time in history. They recognize that the media cherry picks the news. They gleefully prance around when there is a celebrity controversy or a war tragedy, but when success comes in war it is only mildly covered if at all. Mr. Rather, do you think people aren’t seeing that? Do the parents and relatives of the soldiers not see this? What about the ex veterans?

The mainstream media has had it good for a very long time, but times are changing. Talk radio and the Internet not only give people an alternative to the newspapers and network news broadcasts, but they also allow people to get interactive. People can communicate with one another and trade news links. People can ask tough questions and get honest answers back. People can actually present news to the public. We are no longer slaves to the Walter Cronkite’s and Dan Rather’s of the world. We no longer need people like this to get our news.

Today we have Katie Couric, who is an absolute disaster. “America’s Sweetheart” is a true and true liberal and makes little effort to hide it. She is part of the reason that American’s who still watch the leftist news recently voted Jon Stewart Leibowitz America’s most trusted newscaster. Leibowitz is nothing but satire and yet there are a lot of people who believe he is the real deal. This is because he’s not much different from the rest of the leftist newscasters. They’re so far to the left that he actually sounds reasonable. Again Mr. Rather, another example of what you and your ilk have done to the media.

Now I am purposely not bringing up the Chris Mathews, Keith “Smug” Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow because they are like their counterparts on Fox during their viewing hours in that they are partially entertainment. Now granted, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Greta Van Susteren actually tell the truth, but that’s a debate for another day. I will say that Mathews and the gang more closely resemble the current crop of news casters than O’Reilly and the Fox crews do by a very large margin.

Mr. Rather mentioned that the press is the traditional watchdog for America and I find that to be quite amusing. I agree that the press can be that watchdog, but most of the press has chosen to be an enemy to one political party and therefore half the country. They have taken it upon themselves to not only pick the news, but to direct the news. The press should just report and not try to influence. Why do they only show half the story in the Iraq war? Why do they delete a quote from one candidate (the Republican), but keep the quote from the other (the liberal)? Why do they drop little words like “potential conspiracy”, “embattled”, and “hiding”? Why? Why are things like evolution and global warming presented as 100% fact when they have never been proven? Because they want to direct events rather than just cover them.

This media’s recently deceased Godfather Walter Cronkite so abused his power that he had many Americans believing we were defeated during the Tet offensive when that was the furthest thing from the truth. Even in his later years he stood by a story that he blatantly knew was a lie. You see Mr. Rather; we’ve lost our trust in you. Mr. Rather, you tried to smear President Bush and due to pressure you left CBS in disgrace. If you have apologized to the former President, I honestly can’t recall hearing it. Yes, why would we trust the media?

The mainstream media is in deep trouble and they have no one to blame but themselves. Can you imagine the ratings spike if one of the network news shows actually just presented the news and let you decide? Oh that’s right, Fox News does that and their ratings are the reward. Can you imagine if the editorial pages in most of the liberal papers actually employed conservative writers to counterbalance the liberal scribes? I’m not talking about liberal or moderate Republicans, I’m talking about conservatives. I don’t know if the newspapers can be saved by an act like that, but it sure wouldn’t hurt.

Now, before I close I want to mention what alarms me the most. Mr. Rather’s little plea isn’t the first such request that I’ve read about this year. No, I’ve read little blurbs about “bailing out” the newspapers and I’ve read where various high profile papers have sent out an SOS to the Politburo (aka the Congress). This worries me because these are how liberal strikes begin. They quietly test the waters to see what will stick. They try to figure out just who to blame (Since Bush is out of office and Obama wants to blame him for everything, the media will likely concentrate on talk radio) so they have the requisite villain when it comes time for Blinker Pelosi and lil’ Harry Reid to start attacking. Yes, if my guess is right this will contribute to the Fairness Doctrine debate.

I can just hear it now: “It’s not fair that Rush Limbaugh has such high ratings and Chris Mathews doesn’t!” “It’s not right that the New York Times is going out of business but the Drudge Report is a success.” I can hear smug little Keith Olbermann while on ESPN radio slipping in his jibes towards the GOP all the while complaining that the media isn’t balanced. Yeah, Olbermann can go on sports talk radio and still find time to slip in a crack against Bill O’Reilly or Fox News. He’s a real pro isn’t he? If MSNBC fired this guy and replaced him with Sarah Palin their ratings would skyrocket in that hour, but nope, just put another hole in the ship so we can sink faster.

The point is that the liberals will use pleas like Rather’s to push the Fairness Doctrine. They can say that jobs will be saved, that the “watchdog” will remain alive, and that it wouldn’t be right to turn the media over to the far right “loons”. Watch and you’ll see.

I close by saying that I love the news and I always will. I can appreciate a liberal writer if he plays liberal when it’s in the proper format, but not when reporting general news. If he’s a good writer, he’s a good writer. I want newspapers and the news to succeed, but not if they continue to undermine this country and one party (my party) every single day. That being said, at the end of the day it is the media that is responsible for the media’s current predicament. They overreached like their young messiah and now it’s coming back to bite them. Let it die and then rebuild it. I doubt Obama and the gang will allow that to happen, but one can only hope. Did I really just say hope and Obama in the same sentence? See, this media brainwashing really works.

Regular Guy Rant: 2012 Speculation

      <dc:subject>Politics</dc:subject>

I recently had the opportunity to hear Governor Bobby Jindal on Hannity and I came away quite impressed. I remember that he was a little bit underwhelming in his State of the Union response (not terrible like MSNBC tried to promote, but a little bland) and I had been hearing that a number of Republicans had soured on him. I would say that you only do that at your own peril. Jindal is intelligent and principled and with a little more experience would make a worthy opponent for the economic illiterate Barack Obama.

2012 might seem like a long time to go, but the GOP contender picture will start making itself a little clearer in the next year or year and a half. People like Jindal, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, and others are simply putting their toe in the water. They’re trying to figure out how much support they will garner and how much money will be available for them in the event if they take the plunge. They’re likely talking to a whole host of media and government insiders who will make the case for or against a run and of course put out the ol’ “remember me’s” if they run and win.

The media would have you believe that the GOP is DOA. People like James “No really, I’m not an extraterrestrial” Carville, smug Keith Olbermann, and “America’s Sweetheart” Katie Couric want people to think that the GOP has no one who is ready to lead or could possibly mount a challenge to the all seeing, all knowing Marxist Barack Obama. Of course I would ask the reader to think back four years and find out how many of them thought Obama actually stood a chance against the love of Bill’s life, Hillary Clinton. I can’t think of to many. I know I certainly didn’t think Obama could dethrone Hillary, but he did and he rode his leftist lies right to the White House.

So who do we have as of right now and who has the best chance at claiming the nomination and dethroning Obama? Drum roll please…

Mitt Romney. The former Governor of Massachusetts is probably the unofficial front runner at this point in time. I say this because he has been positioning himself for a primary run ever since he withdrew from the 2008 race. Romney pulled out of the race and made peace with the moderate/liberal wing of the Republican Party (for those of you in North Dakota, this is called the John Hoeven wing, for those of you nationwide, think John McCain, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins) and then worked tirelessly in an attempt to elect his former rival. I would guess that he built up a chip pile with the GOP, but it’s unknown what cashing those in will actually mean. Romney has started the “Free and Strong America PAC” which will keep his name in the public eye while he contemplates a run. He clearly isn’t ready to walk away from politics. If the GOP perceives him as next in line, he will probably have a shot, but no one knows if they are thinking that way with him. Is he next in line?
Pros: Can raise money, four million vote primary base, recognizable, strong family values, likable, economic background, and ability to set up infrastructure fast, GOP owes him. Romney could put the Rust Belt back into play.
Cons: Can he get tough? Huckabee and McCain pulled a fast one on him last year. Can he fight back? Questions over past stances on issues will give the left plenty of firepower and has the Mormon issue gone away?
RGR Guess: He’s running and at this point, he’s in front.

Sarah Palin. The media has not tired of going after former Governor Palin and I doubt they ever will. Have they succeeded in making her Quayle II or will she be the conservative folk hero that will take the GOP into a new age? The jury is still out. It is clear that she’s attracted to big politics and it is also abundantly clear that she will return fire if attacked. She’s smart, quick witted, and not afraid to gamble. Many in Washington have scoffed at her resigning the Governor’s office, but who will have the last laugh? I’m convinced that she could have a talk show on Fox News that would challenge any show for ratings. She either becomes President or a multi-millionaire talk show sensation.
Pros: Smart, a fighter, recognizable, loved by the right (aka normal people), great family (despite the media’s spin on it), perceived as anti-establishment, the anti-McCain.
Cons: The media will not let up. She is as hated by the left as Dan Quayle or George W. Bush. They want blood. She is a pro life woman who won’t back down to the MSNBC whacko crowd and that drives them crazy. Can she hold up?
RGR Guess: I’m leaning yes, but a timely contract offer from Fox could change things.

Mike Huckabee. The Huckster burst on the scene and became a folk hero to a great many Republican voters. He clearly has legs in the Bible belt and is generally seen as a positive figure. He has become a fixture on Fox News by hosting his own show and filling in for the popular Bill O’Reilly from time to time. Huckabee came out of the GOP primary in a good position for another shot at the White House and he proved that a campaign can gain steam with very little cash on hand. The party likes him, but do they see him as someone who could win the big dance?
Pros: Likable, intelligent, and proven campaigner. Huckabee can go “grass roots” with anyone. He would play well in the South, but we just don’t know about the rest of the country in a true one on one battle. A lot of people voted for him in the primary so the base is there. He is getting continued exposure on Fox News.
Cons: Huckabee didn’t really have to defend himself that often. He was able to straddle the fence in the McCain/Romney feud and then go with the Arizona Senator at the end. Can he handle a tough battle? I don’t think Romney or Palin will let him get away with as much this time. There are some concerns over how a Huckabee Administration would handle this economy, but compared to Obama, I think those concerns go away. When a firefly could handle this economy better than the sitting President you don’t have many worries.
RGR Guess: He teases and teases, but stays out. He has a good gig on Fox and he’s fairly popular. He knows he can’t out raise Romney or Palin, so why bother. He can hang back and get in the VP speculation game.

Newt Gingrich. Newt is an interesting figure. On one hand he is seen as the great fighter, the mastermind behind “Contract with America” and then on the other hand he is seen as a guy who seems to wilt when around liberal celebrities like Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry. Why anyone would wilt around those two is beyond me. The blinker and the second for the guy from Addams Family shouldn’t make someone as seasoned as Newt go lovey dovey. There are also concerns over Gingrich defending “global warming”. You know what Global Warming is right? That’s a scam put out there by a seriously sick man, Al Gore Jr. Newt is an interesting case and probably one of the harder figures to forecast. He’s brilliant, a master speaker, and a gifted problem solver, but his reputation has gone through the mud due to his own personal story and the never-ending attacks by the leftist media in the 90’s.
Pros: As mentioned, intelligent, great speaker, and known problem solver. As high profile as any Republican out there. Lots of friends in the party and media.
Cons: Family issues, tendency to become star struck with the foes of the right, and hated by the far left.
RGR Guess: Teases and teases and ultimately does not run. He’ll make a strategic endorsement and hope for that VP call.

Bobby Jindal: This guy is smart, young, and fresh. He can dazzle in a one on one setting, but something was a bit off during the State of the Union address. Of course, since most people don’t watch the opposition address, he probably has nothing to worry about. Jindal’s popularity is growing and he seems to be doing a great job in Louisiana. Obama and the gang are ignoring him right now and concentrating on Sarah Palin and that could work to Jindal’s benefit.
Pros: Young, popular, and viewed as a hard worker. A fresh face and someone seen as willing to get off the mat and keep on fighting.
Cons: Many people will choose between Palin and Jindal and my guess is that for now, it is Sarah Palin’s turn to be the grass roots, anti-Washington warrior. That doesn’t mean Jindal won’t run though.
RGR Guess: Jindal runs. A dream ticket of Palin/Jindal could rattle Washington. Romney would be hard pressed to find a better balance to a ticket he might headline. I think he’ll run and make his stand in the south. He’ll be one of those guys who will put the whole enchilada on South Carolina. If he loses, he comes back later as a known quantity. If he wins, he’s our “hope and change.”

Tim Pawlenty: Well it’s obvious he wants to run, but it’s hard to say how much traction he will be able to get. Some people say he’s boring and others are confused about his conservative credentials. To be honest, I’m a little confused as well, but to be fair, I just don’t know enough about Mr. Pawlenty. Many polls have him trailing far behind Romney and Palin in any potential primary matchup. That being said, Jimmy Carter had five people at his first campaign event and he ended up (unfortunately) becoming President. Pawlenty still has a little time (not much though).
Pros: Young, hard working, and has some political sense.
Cons: Unknown in much of America and often perceived as boring.
RGR Guess: He runs. I don’t see him winning, but he could make enough of an impact that he is again on the VP shortlist. Of course, he’s the type of guy who could make some noise in Iowa and make everyone rethink some things.

Charlie Crist: This guy is ambitious and by all accounts fairly popular in Florida, but is clearly a moderate. It looks like he’s angling for a Senate seat and using that as a potential White House springboard.
Pros: Popular in Florida which is vital in any election, powerful friends, ability to raise money.
Cons: Viewed as a moderate and doesn’t excite the base.
RGR Guess: Possibly becomes a Senator, teases a Presidential big, and then goes on the VP list.

The Rest: Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Haley Barbour, Ron Paul.
Pros: Rudy puts New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey in play. Fred has a lot of people who love him and could raise money if he was aggressive. Barbour fits the mold of a leader and has a lot of powerful friends inside the Beltway. Paul can raise money and has an energetic base.
Cons: Rudy has never shown the stomach for a national race. Ditto for Thompson. Barbour might be overshadowed by Romney and Palin. For every good idea Ron Paul has, there is always an idea that scares people thrown in there.
RGR Guess: Rudy goes for the New York statehouse and doesn’t run. Fred teases, but stays home. Barbour runs and becomes the 2012 Duncan Hunter. Paul runs and does a repeat of 2008. He’ll shake things up, but be kept at arm’s length by the establishment. All but Paul, will get VP consideration.

Wildcards: Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Condi Rice, Eric Cantor, Jim DeMint.
RGR Guess: If Bush goes, it’ll be 2016. Perry sniffs and possibly jumps in. Condi will tease, but won’t get in. The Condi speculation will ramp up when her book comes out. I think Condi would be on any shortlist for VP. Cantor and DeMint suffer from name recognition right now, but that could change. If either of the two were to go, I would say Cantor. Too early to tell with these two.

There you have it. These are my guesses as of right now. Normally I wouldn’t wade in so soon, but with Obama and the left plunging in the polls and PAC’s being formed, it’s clear that the field is in the early stages of taking shape. The 2008 race proved that you have to start early or you simply cannot compete in the dollar game. If all things were even and it happened today, I think it would come down to Romney and Palin. Assuming there are no scandals or strange twists and turns, I believe we’ll see a Romney, Palin, and Jindal battle reminiscent of Obama, Hillary, and Edwards. I think any of the three could beat “Mr. Apology” Barack Obama. Memo to GOP: I’m begging you that no matter who you put forward, make sure their last name isn’t Dole, McCain, or Hoeven. You want to win don’t you?

I’m not going to go into a whole big thing on here, as this quote says it all. I’m sure others have put it on here, but in this day and age it needs to be stressed again.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist
program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

-Norman Thomas, American Socialist Party

Norman Thomas was 100% right. We have to stop it. America is better than this. Just something to ponder. Have a great day.

Senator Ben Cardin (Health Care Destroyer-MD) responded to a town hall question with the classic “what if” response that people like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are so fond of using when they don’t want to answer something truthfully. Scare them and intimidate them. Try to get them to stall out and if you’re lucky have them answer with an “I didn’t think of that.” Sit back and smile. Another one bites the dust. Classic politics.

Cardin responded to the town hall question by asking what would happen if the man or his family became sick, broke a bone, had a car accident or ended up in the emergency room. Wow, Cardin covered quite a lot there didn’t he? Let’s go further, what would happen if the man stepped on a nail, swallowed a bottle cap, or was bit by a rabid gopher (not the Minnesota Golden kind either)? Senator Cardin, what if the man was walking down the street and he tripped on a bone left by a three legged dog? What if in tripping the man fell down, snapped his wrist, rolled into the road, and was hit by a runaway ice cream truck? What if while withering in pain and waiting for the ambulance an eagle flying overhead dropped a captured rattlesnake and the snake bit the man on the nose, thus injecting him with poison? What if Senator? What if Mr. Obama? What if?

It is not only insulting that the man who would be dictator and his Politburo think they can manage every aspect of our lives better than we can; it is also insulting that they can’t answer some simple questions. Namely, how in the world do we pay for this stuff? How? What if all of your little issues pass such as health care reform (reform, you have to love that word), the global warming tax (aka cap and trade to you fans of clever little names), and the never ending series of bailouts and stimulus leave our country broke? Senator can you answer? Nope, didn’t think so. Mr. Obama, can you for the first time in your life answer something with a shred of honesty? Just once Mr. Obama, just once answer a question where you don’t lie or blame someone else to cover the fact that you have no clue about economics.

The left (and to be fair, some Republicans) like to throw every kind of “what if” scenario out there as diversion tactics. Mr. Obama, sir, can you tell me why you’re moving ahead with Cap and Trade when global warming may not be real? The stick man from Hawaii would stammer and stutter and finally ask you a question (if he doesn’t blame George W Bush), “What would happen if it is real? What if it was real and you woke up tomorrow and the world had been destroyed? What if you couldn’t remember that episode of the Twilight Zone and couldn’t figure a way out of this?” The media would gush and his followers would talk about what a brave and courageous leader we have. What if Mr. Obama, I woke up and found out that Al Gore was in prison for lying to the American people in order to further his global alarmism business? Nah, never happen. Those kinds of “what if” questions aren’t allowed. There would be a price to pay for that and its called character assassination.

You see it’s quite simple; we are in phase two of the three step Clinton/Carville/Obama strategy that is used time and again to get what they want. I didn’t include Jimmy Carter or Al Gore in this since one is dumb and the other is mad. Actually, both are dumb and both are quite mad. I think giving away canals and believing that the sun is going to eat us unless we put up a million windmills and give the federal government half our money puts you in the idiot/insane category. OK, back to the phases.

Phase 1: Scare the heck out of everyone. Support health care reform (aka destruction) or you’ll have a heart attack and won’t be treated and if you’re treated you’ll never be able to pay for it. No one will help you. Your neighbors will be on their deathbed and without government health care they will surely die. You will be to blame. The elderly are dying off. Support health care reform or it’s on you. You will be responsible for their deaths. You know what I mean. The kind of thing Babs Boxer (Yes, I know, Senator Boxer) does when she says we’ll have an apocalypse if we don’t give our money to cap and trade. To be fair, she only does this when she’s not making racial statements to people.

Phase 2: Where we are at right now. What if this or what if that. This is an extension of the fear tactics, but they’re also trying to appeal to your intellectual side. What if you took three windmills, five solar panels, and you gave the federal government…ohhh…say…two thirds of your paycheck; don’t you think we might possibly reduce harmful death inducing rays by .0000000000000000000000000001%? Think about it now. Yes, Mr. Obama, we should really believe you. You’re not a Doctor or a Scientist. You’re not an expert on cancer, HIV/Aids, arthritis, or anything else. You have never stayed at an Indian or Veteran Hospital. You’re the living breathing messiah, so you’ve never had a cold. So Mr. President, sir, how are you an expert on health care? How are you an expert on global warming? Really, now that I think about it, how are you an expert on anything?

Phase 3: Intimidation and character assassination. For Democrats who leave the tent on this issue, they will be intimidated from now until this goes to the floor. The same backroom deals that made Cap and Trade possible in the House will be brought up again. Ms. Bono, remember how we said we would study the Mongolian Earth Worm if you voted for Cap and Trade? Remember? Well, I think that is going to be put on the backburner for twenty years or so. How about getting back to the forefront and voting for health care reform? The Democrats will be intimidated and many of them will hold true to form and fold up. The Republicans will feel character assassination. Obama will unleash the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (think Waxman, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Emanuel) on his enemies. They will go to every friendly talk show (that’s about 98% of them) and let the insults and accusations fly. Make your enemy have to defend him or her instead of continuing the debate they are clearly winning. I can see Barney’s Frank now with the spittle flying as he blames George Bush and Dick Cheney for killing health care. Pelosi will blink a million times as she questions the character of Senator Jim DeMint. Waxman’s nostrils will continue to expand as he launches his verbal tirades against any and all Obama opposition. The sad thing is that there is always a risk that some on the right will fold as well. We have a few greedy cowards who put an (R) by their name I hate to admit.

So, Mr. Obama, since Senator Cardin won’t answer it, why should you decide who treats me? Why should you have access to my health records? Why should you decide who lives and dies? Mr Obama answers, “Uh…uh…I….uh…I would like to ask you a question. What if you fell out of your bed, were swept away by a colony of ants, deposited in the river, and washed ashore on an island full of dinosaurs? What if one of these dinosaurs bit your leg off and you needed help? What would happen?” Wow, Mr. President I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe I do need this health care.
Yeah right, how about this “what if”? What if, Mr. Obama, that you keep your hands out of my wallet? What if you act responsible with our money? What if? Hmm…what if?
