Your Tax Dollars At Work - The Ethanol Scam
Republicans and Democrats alike have jumped on the ethanol train. Production has gone through the roof, and now the legislature has a $45.6 million dollar plan that the State Senate has approved to promote this surging supply without a market demand.
As stated by the fiscal note this $45.6 million plan “addresses renewable energy issues, including a Biomass Energy Center, establishes a renewable energy policy, an energy independence research council and an energy independence development fund.”
Ethanol is the definition of a ponzy scheme. First, promote an industry the market has not embraced; second, create incentives for more production than the market calls for to be made; finally, spend more money to promote that undemanded industry that ever imaginable before.
When the Democrats complain about Republicans not spending enough on education, just blame ethanol - the fuel that nobody wants. After all, it was one of their ideas in the first place.
$45.6 million more to promote ethanol?
You’ve got to be kidding me.
