YearlyKos silences a soldier

I was stunned to read about and listen to a video about the YearlyKos meeting, wherein “ a young man in uniform stood up to argue that the surge was working, and cutting down on Iraqi casualties. The [YearlyKos] moderator largely freaked out. When other members of the panel tried to answer his question, he demanded they “stand down.” He demanded the questioner give his name, the name of his commander, and the name of his unit. And then he closed the panel, no answer offered or allowed, and stalked off the stage.”

The moderator at YearlyKos actually invited the soldier outside to discuss this matter face to face and I wish they had met. The moderator also made it clear that talking about politics in uniform was not acceptable behavior.

Typical for the left nutcases.  They can’t debate, can’t even dicuss much less tolerate opinions that aren’t in step with theirs.  They are a pathetic bunch of narrow-minded stupid morons.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Was he taking a political side? I listened to it twice, and got no clear idea what the Sgt was saying.

The soldier was trying to make the case that the surge was working!

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

The soldier was breaking the law.

You don’t take part in politics while you’re in your uniform.  It’s not only highly inappropriate—it’s also illegal.  And there’s a good reason for it, too: When you wear the uniform, you are representing the military, and it is essential that the military never, ever wade into politics.

woofie? Saw the video, 3 times now. Still have no idea what the SGT was saying. Did he take a political position? Did he make the assessment that the tactical component and the political component should be exclusive one from the other?

DKos is answering nothing, in either direction. So, which is it?

em. i think that pointing out that the surge is working, if indeed it is, is an apolitical statement. if the surge is not working, he’s a liar and it can be seen as a political statement. the perception of whether or not the surge is working, then, is the deciding factor for whether or not this will be construed as political. right?
