Yea, I’m against the war too!

First off, dont let the title fool you. I am not a pacifist anti-war Bush hating liberal who hugs trees as a hobby on Sunday mornings.

Over the past several months, I have often enjoyed sharing my thoughts during conversations with members of the “Bush hater” crowd. I can hardly resist making conversation with people who spew statements like “Bush has mishandled this entire thing.” I love to watch their sensitive little eyes light up when I tell them that “I agree, Bush has totally mishandled this whole Iraq thing.” But, inevitably the blood soon leaves their faces when I follow up with “I dont think Bush has killed nearly enough people over there!”

You know, America needs to re-think our foreign policy involving the use of the military. I believe that as a nation we need to firmly decide if we are going to accept a role in this world as “our brothers keeper”. If we do take this honorable approach, and decide that we have a moral obligation to roam the world defending the weak against all dictators real or percieved..... then by God do it and get it over with! Today, our troops are frequently becoming targets waiting to be attacked as a result of our clearly undefined mission, (or is that our vaguely well defined mission). Who knows, but a target is a poor career choice, and generally bad for military and national morale. America loves a winner. If we as a nation dont have the resolve to go over there and kill the appropriate people in sufficient numbers, and with sufficient brutality to clearly make our point, then we have in fact already lost.

Personally, I dont believe that this nation has that type of resolve. We haven’t had it in many years..... so I say its time to bring our targets home. Will there be future Islamic terrorist attacks launched against us? Probably so. Maybe next time we will immediately unleash horrific violence upon the animals who want to kill our families.... then again maybe not. But for those who haven’t noticed, America is currently under constant invasion on our Southern border. Illegal Mexicans, and Salvadoran gangs such as MS13 pose the greater immediate threat to our way of life in this country. Only speaking for myself, I have always been taught to deal with the most imminent threat first.

Illegal Mexicans, and Salvadoran gangs such as MS13 pose the greater immediate threat to our way of life in this country.

You really think so?  I don’t know about MS13 gangs and how they might be different from the mafia and other gangs in this country but I don’t know of any illegal Mexicans or gangs that are suicide bombers or car bombers attempting to cause the greatest amount of death and distruction.  Do you?

DD, it is only a matter of time, the seeds have germinating in certain quarters for quite some time.

Dio, there is a large body of Americans that have been saying much the same thing. Two, in fact. Combat veterans. And currently serving Combat troops. The same 2 groups who said pretty much the same thing during Vietnam and subsequent actions.

We have a serious problem with how we view the military and its purpose in America. And I don’t see it being resolved anytime soon.

Good post, I digg it.

2H, I was simply questioning the relative threat question which places the illegals ahead of the muslims.

MS13 and a few of the other drug gangs like to blow up and burn the children and women of their competition and cops. They also like to use chainsaws on people who get out of line with them. Their definition of “out of line” is rather far reaching.

The class warfare crowd is working on building a permanent sub-class from which individuals with no hope and early indoctrination in “sacrifice yourself for the good of the people” or “sacrifice yourself for eternal reward” will supply willing dupes.

Diogenes,

Thomas Jefferson said, “We have the wolf by the ear and we can neither hold him or safely let him go.”

Timeless words that apply well here.
