Sometimes life just isn’t fair and occassionally it is incredibly cruel. Spc. John Austin Johnson, was recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center from wounds in battle and while his family was enroute to visit him, a freak wind rolled their car and two of his children were killed.

This came to me via a prayer request for the family, you can get the entire story here:

Some of our soldiers pay the ultimate price to defend our liberty, others suffer the loss of a something more dear to their hearts than their own lives, they lose a child.

*sigh*

It’s times like this that make me hope that the whole Heaven and Hell thing that you believe in is true.

May God Bless John Austin Johnson. May he manage to find a measure of peace in this life and may he come to believe that his wife and kids were called into a higher plane; a higher existence. May God Bless you sir.

As a parent, there is no pain that compares to the loss of a child. MonaLisa Johnson has sustained the most severe injury in this tragedy and without God, she will not survive.

Unbelievably tragic.

As a father of a young child, my heart goes out to them. I’d have no clue how to cope with this were I in Spc. Johnson’s shoes.

I am particularly sensitive to this story as I lost my son March 18, 2005. I don’t know what happens over a long period of time, but about 2.5 years later it is still quite painful for me to think about, which is why I wanted you all to know about this dear family. I wonder how long they will keep the bad news from this wounded soldier after they allow him to come out of his drug induced coma and how it might impact his recovery. A really sad story! This family deserves the prayerful and material support of this nation.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.
