Would you quit shouting?
No, not you, the gentle reader, but politicians. Whenever I hear tape of Obama or Clinton, they’re more or less shouting at their audience--as if turning up the volume (all the way to 11!) were somehow equivalent to adding meaning.
And then I remember the recordings I’ve heard of JFK, FDR, Reagan, and Churchhill--especially Reagan’s “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” speech.
You know what? Only rarely do they even raise their voices. Great speakers, and great thinkers, don’t need to turn up the volume. They speak to hearts.
The left mocked the fact that an actor would presume to run for office. It turns out that they might do well to visit with some of the great ones who are still left, and learn something. Wouldn’t hurt the right, either.
