Worst Farm Bill in History About to be Passed.  STOP IT -STOP IT NOW

Is there power of the blog?  Can we not stop this abomination of a farm bill that is about to be passed.

It has huge subsidies for ethanol, farm support payments, disaster support payments driven by Conrad and Dorgan.

I know many of us that blog think we make a difference.  But this idiocy has to be stopped.  If we have the power to Get Harriet Miers stopped, immigration bill stopped, then do we have the power to get this bill trimmed back to reality?

I love President Bush’s national defense stands, I hate the way he spends money.

What do we in the Blogosphere need to do to stop this 5 year farm bill?

NOW!  The vote is on Friday NEXT.  Your tax dollars at waste. Again.

I kinda want to know why we need a farm bill when we have $5.27 corn, 10.05 wheat, 12.27 soybeans?

Source ND wheat commission.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Subsidies for wheat, cotton, and a couple other “staple” crops are paid counter-cyclically… that means that farmers only get paid when commodity prices are low.  That means that the total farm susidies will be much lower this year and in the coming years.  However, my point doesn’t include disaster payments, CPR payments, and those other things.

But, to answer your question Gene… there is no way you’ll get Conrad, Pomeroy, Dorgan, Hoeven, or any other elected politician or any other person who wants to be an elected politician to EVER scrap the farm bill.  So… why waste our time?  Work on URBAN congressmen.

Even the conservative opponent of Earl Pomeroy is calling for the passage of the farm bill.

Where is my safety net?
I want the taxpayers to pay for any investment losses I ever suffer!
It’s only “fair”, since I supply the capital and taxes these people use to rake in their money!
