Winchester to stop making trademark rifles

I’m not a rifle guy, although I am in the process of tricking out a new custom AR-15.  I did, however, perk up at the news that Winchester is about to discontinue manufacturing many of its trademark firearms here in the United States.

Collectors, now’s the time to scarf ‘em up!

Comments

Winchester has done this before, and gained an up tic in sales therefrom. That said, too many other manufacturers are produce quality repros and knockoffs of Winchesters classic pieces. They are getting their ass handed to them. So it may well come to pass.

You’d think either they’d license their product to be made and marketed by another manufacturer or someone will do a knockoff.

Course weren’t they being made in Belgium by FAL?

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Norinco makes several Winchester designs. And I believe that there are several others, in Brazil, Italy, and Malaysia. Winchester is a victim of its own inflexibility, and of the ever rising cost of enviroregulation and confiscatory taxation.

If they moved their operations to Alabama, MS, Louisiana,Texas, etc etc, they would be able to save themselves. Oh, well.

I got one of the classic model 94 30/30’s just about a year before they stopped making them. Or at least they announced that they were ending the line. Glad I did.

I believe Norinco makes that model. I know they make the external hammer pump shotgun that was Winchester’s staple for many years, and I have fired a couple of their lever actions in different calibers.

I feel bad about Winchester going down, that said they brought this on themselves.
