Why I Love the Sabres

So if you’ve been watching the National Hockey League this year, you likely know that my Sabres have been hurting this season.  Where last season it only took them ten games to compile ten wins, this season it took them 21 games to compile ten wins… and that was after a four game winning streak (this evening bumped it to a five game winning streak and 11 total wins).

A lot of us fans were quite angry with the management after losing both captains (Briere and Drury).  My opinion is that we weren’t going to be able to keep Drury (he wanted to go to New York), so we should have put a fat contract in front of Briere.  Well, that’s in the past… and so are the bandwagon fans of last years amazing season.

But even though this season hasn’t been the most spectacular showing the HSBC arena has seen, I still love my Sabres.  Why? (Especially since I’ve moved further south and further away since last season.)  Well, other than being a loyal person, I love the Sabres because THEY CAN LAUGH AT THEMSELVES!

Check out this video of the Sabres taking a moment to have some fun off the ice:

If you got a good chuckle out of that video, check out the rest of the post for a video from last year.  This is just a fun team!

In the next video, from last season, we find the Sabres making fun of themselves… more specifically Buffalo’s left wing enforcer, Andrew Peters.  Peters is a 6’4”, 247 pound 27 year old…  He hurts people, but that really didn’t gel well with last season’s four line attack capabilities.  Peters ended up with less ice time… A LOT LESS.  So if he wasn’t playing as much, what was he going to fill all of that extra time with?
