Whoopi Defends Vick

Whoopi picks up where Rosie left off.
Just 15 minutes into the show she brought up Vick’s conviction on dogfighting charges.

“You know from his background this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from,” said Goldberg.

“There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of our country.”

Co-host Joy Behar seemed shocked at Goldberg’s statements.

“How about dog torture and dog murdering,” Behar asked.

“Unfortunately it’s part of the thing,” Goldberg replied.

“You’re a dog lover. For a lot of people dogs are sport,” she added.

Behar continued to shake her head in disgust.

Goldberg said it seemed to her that it took a while for Vick to realize that the charges against him were serious.

“It seemed like a light went off in his head when he realized that this was something the entire country really didn’t appreciated, didn’t like,” Goldberg said, referring to Vick’s guilty plea.

She said if the case had involved somebody from New York City her feelings would have been different.

Goldberg pointed out that Vick was raised in the South.

“This is part of his cultural upbringing,” said Goldberg.

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said she was encouraged by the NFL suspending Vick indefinitely.

But Goldberg continued to defend Vick saying “This is a kid who comes from a culture when this is not questioned.”

It was Goldberg’s first day moderating the talk show. She took over from Rosie O’Donnell who quit the show earlier this year after feuds with Donald Trump and Hasselbeck.

I guess by that logic, slavery was OK early in our nation’s history because it was ingrained into our nation’s culture, especially in the Deep South.

Sorry Whoopi. It doesn’t matter where you’re from.

Wrong is wrong.

And dog fighting is as much wrong where Vick is from as it is where you are from.

You changed up what she was saying, she is not saying it is any more right. Just recognizing that he did not see it as “culturally” wrong because of where he was raised, I went to the same high school as him..and i witnessed many of my friends parents fighting dogs. So what she said is right, he was raised for dogs as a sport, not pets!!! Don’t be so closed minded, i understand it is wrong no matter waht...but some people need to find out that it is wrong to stop. Just because you learned it does not mean others are EVER taught taht its wrong, he did because he isa high profile case, so outsiders are coming in saying it is wrong!

Sorry Whoopi. It doesn’t matter where you’re from.
Wrong is wrong.

I agree 100% Brandon and I wasn’t aware of Whoopie condoning these kinds of actions so thanks for posting this.
I have always been a fan of hers but I definitely have second thoughts about things now.. I say eww… to anyone that defends Vicks actions. It’s even lamer that one would blame their wrong doing on how they were raised. If thats the case perhaps we should incarcerate his whining mother.

“They are trying to put my baby in jail, and for what?” Brenda Vick told the Post.

Simply pathetic I tell you… OFF WITH HER HEAD!

So, now, instead of “one sick puppy”, it’s “one Vick puppy”?

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

You changed up what she was saying

I did no such thing. I simply quoted from the WSB-TV story about her remarks.

Take up the issue with whoever wrote the story for the television station.

she is not saying it is any more right. Just recognizing that he did not see it as “culturally” wrong because of where he was raised, I went to the same high school as him.

Then why go on national television and attempt to defend his actions? Saying dog fighting is culturally acceptable strikes to the heart of right or wrong.

And again, it’s as feeble an attempt as justifying slavery by suggesting that was “culturally” acceptable at the time.

...she is not saying it is any more right. Just recognizing that he did not see it as “culturally” wrong because of where he was raised…

Isn’t that the same as saying it’s OK because of...(fill in the leftie excuse).

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

Yeah, a light went off in Vick’s head. Can’t you see it? “You mean I’m a big sports star and I can’t do ANYTHING at get away with it? Time to get Jesus and start apologizing. Maybe the NAACP will sell their soul to support me. And thank goodness for racist stars like Whoopi, who will say it was all “indicative(?)” of my culture.”

The man knew he had to keep the business secret. He chose to hang and drown and electricute dogs instead of humanely killing them He used live kittens as bait. He’s a sadist and I hope he comes out of prison knowing exactly what it’s like to be violated.

m - Just because you learned it does not mean others are EVER taught taht its wrong...

So why did he hide it?

Are you saying that this man is a complete idiot?
