If I may… I’d strongly suggest that your enthusiasm for Jack Murtha is not likely to enhance your credibility in any other area… particularly one that is military related.

Murtha, a barely unindicted co-conspirator in the ABSCAM scandal, has spent the last 25 years passing out DoD contracts to campaign contributors and clients of his lobbyist brother, Kip.  Of the 33 and a half years he proudly touts as service in the Marines, only 5 years was actually on active duty.  And while he certainly served heroically and with honor in Vietnam, unlike his party’s most recent presidential nominee, Jack Murtha has long since tarnished that honor with his idiotic, partisan pronouncements about military strategy, tactics, and most particularly individual Marines.  Finally, there is a fairly compelling argument to be made that the Democrats’ resident military “expert” is, as much as anyone, responsible for the notion on the part of UBL and al-Qaeda that the US is a “Paper Tiger” and could be attacked with near impunity.

Fact is, if you were looking for someone to hold up as some sort of shining example, even on the left, you could not have stumbled across a more contemptible choice than Congressman Jack Murtha.

Whatever has been recorded and possibly taken out of context on a audio tape really doesn’t matter for one has to be really stupid (or vindictive) to say that Rush would badmouth our troops.  Rush has been pro-war pro-troop since the beginning of the war so it would be totally out his character to do the opposite now.
