Where are the equal rights lawyers when you need them?

I just looked at the top 23 NFL draft choices. Let’s see if the percentage of Blacks in the USA is about 20% that should mean there are.....

Well you can do the math.

In fact of the 23 top draft picks" 23 top draft picks, five, cinco, funf are of the non African American Persuasion. Proof, click here, and look at the photo gallery.

Racial Quotas, That’s whats needed. The NBA is even more racist. It’s like Jeremiah Wright put the whole thing together.

Now were did I put the Number of EOC? I wonder if they are open on Saturday afternoons? I’m sure they are being government employees.

This is a travesty and a set back to racial harmony. I gotta go, I got a call to make. I’m sure those lawyers at the EOC are unaware of this.

Forget race! How about age discrimination? When was the last time you saw a quarterback over 50 years old? And I’m sure the ration of women to men is far below the national average!

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

This is what happens when people are hired on the basis of skills and talents rather than EEOC mandates.

I don’t really watch the NFL at all… However, in my business classes we’ve all discussed the fact that sports players are chosen for the entertainment value and not for their skills. I guess that means that blacks are just more entertaining? Or maybe just the fact that they made a point of hiring so many blacks has garnered attention. Another question is- is it mostly white men that watch the NFL, or how many black men watch the NFL? Whose type of entertainment is it? Certainly you don’t think that every football player is talented…

Wow, just like college professors are; who knew?

Student,

I know I am going way out on a limb saying this, but this is without a doubt the dumbest thing you have ever posted here.  It is an absolutely appalling indictment of this country’s post secondary education that anyone in a business class, student or professor, could possibly be so intellectually tone-deaf.  What you don’t know about football is obvious.  But strictly from a business perspective, your proposition is obscenely stupid.  You are suggesting that the owners of NFL franchises worth half a billion dollars and up are not interested enough in winning to care about the football skills of the players they hire and to whom they pay millions?

Drop the business class first thing Monday morning and focus instead on an area that does not involve any sort of competition or require rational thought.  Performing arts should do admirably.  I hear Barnum and Bailey might be hiring.

Is it only entertaining when you’re winning? I suppose we could look at other sports: such as wrestling, where they actually stage the fights in some versions so that certain people do win. They certainly wouldn’t pick players to lose either, but merely for entertainment value. If you would like to further explain why my private education which costs more than double the amount of a public school is failing, I’d suggest you look at your own schooling and determine why you haven’t been such a failure. Then, suggest this solution to everyone else because obviously college has actually done something good for you. Unless, of course, you didn’t go to college.

Apparently you seem to know how to run this country, so go and run for president- I assume it’s never too late. Just let me know what your platform is. For all I know, it might just be getting rid of all private religious schools at the top of the best Colleges lists… or the fact that this school is known for being conservative and NOT liberal. You must be right on the edge there, and the fact is, none of your standards for colleges are stated. You should say “All colleges suck because they’re liberal and liberals can’t teach”. Or perhaps “Your college did not teach this material correctly because it should have stated the football players are hired to win, and the purpose of winning is...” Why don’t you go ahead and mention why winning is more important than anything else? You’d be a loser if you don’t defend your opinion…

Btw, since you’re all loving, caring people, are you this disrespectful to your children and people at your work? Do you tell your boss that he’s dumb, or maybe that secretary of yours that she can’t do shit? Maybe you don’t even try to fix the problem by telling them they can do something better- and when they do say something you agree with, you continue trolling them until finally they quit. When will YOU ever mature? Being uneducated is NOT funny, and if you think it sucks, then get up and actually do something about it rather than making fun of someone you consider to be uneducated. I’m really glad that you believe there is NOTHING I can do to become smarter, that I’ve never been smart, that I’m liberal, that I go to a public school and always have gone to a public school, and that because I’m not your age I will never be as smart as you. Is there any other prejudices you would like to add? Go ahead and put them here, but don’t forget to back them up. I’m absolutely sure you’re just as dumb as me, if not dumber because your mouth is bigger than your brain. I suggest you hang out with people that have different opinions than yours. Or maybe just go back to college and see what it’s really like.

Student Student on April 26, 2008 at 10:17 pm

Poor poor student - “Why is everyone picking on me?” With that attitude, you will never become a totally mature human.  It is definitely you who are stuck in this liberal mode…

Student,

Professional football is first and foremost a business, which makes your remark about choosing players for their entertainment value rather than their football talents all the more egregious, since its was made, according to you, in a business class.  As in other major pro sports, the talent of the players is of enormous importance, which is why scouting services, so-called “combines”, and player drafts are held in the first place, for without such an arrangement, major market teams, those well capitalized, would simply monopolize the pool of talent and establish “dynasties” which are, of course, great for those teams and their fans, but ultimately detrimental to the entire league.

Whether or not the school itself is prestigious has nothing to do with the stupidity of the remark, nor does the partisan political reputation of the school, or that of the person who actually first made the remark.  Stupid is stupid, now matter what the venue.  Or the price tag.

I don’t see that my own education is pertinent, but if you insist, I have a bachelor’s and a masters in business, having put myself through school after serving in the military.  I have worked successfully for others, and have pursued success on my own as well.

The remainder of your remarks are largely gratuitous, and thus unworthy of serious comment, except, perhaps this,

I’m really glad that you believe there is NOTHING I can do to become smarter, that I’ve never been smart, that I’m liberal, that I go to a public school and always have gone to a public school, and that because I’m not your age I will never be as smart as you.

Your attempt at sarcasm aside (another area in need of serious work if you are to be successful at it), the fact is the best education you will get in life is that which you teach yourself from the experiences and opinions of others.  I have no idea how smart, or knowledgeable (not the same thing, please note) you will be in life.  Certainly I would hope that you live as long as I have and much longer.  Life is what YOU make of it.
