What the hell was this editor thinking!

“Crisis Eclipses Mugabe’s Comeback”

The article , which must have been cobbled together from pieces written by several people(at least one of which is a complete idiot) is not that bad. It only smears a thin coat of paint over the murdering thug Mugabe. That headline, on the other hand, is simply appalling.

Dan Eggen is the only person whose name is listed on this piece of journalistic crap, so I guess it is at his feet the blame for the attempt to whitewash the terrorism, torture, and murder of the last 3 months. The headline is breath taking in its stupidity and willful ignorance. The opening pair of paragraphs are just gravy over the top.

“HARARE, Zimbabwe, July 28—President Robert Mugabe has emerged from the most tumultuous election in Zimbabwe’s history with his grip on power restored but his nation’s daunting problems—including hyperinflation, international isolation and an exodus of skilled workers—dramatically worsened.

Between March 29, when he lost a first-round vote to a surging opposition, and Friday, when Mugabe presumably romped to victory unopposed in a runoff election, sparsely stocked store shelves here emptied, long bread lines grew longer, and inflation soared from several hundred thousand percent to millions.”

Read the whole thing, see if you can separate which sections were written by different people. They kinda stood out to me, but perhaps I am just to critical.

And no, I ain’t gonna hattip this one. Whoever put this on the front page of WaPo don’t need credited, they need their pay docked for this atrocity.
