What is the Sound of a Single Shoe Dropping? - Bloomberg as Veep?

McCain: Bloomberg VP a Possibility

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 10:47 AM

By: Jim Meyers

Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting John McCain praised New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg during a visit to the Big Apple and hinted that Bloomberg could be considered as a possible running mate.

Bloomberg is leaving office next year due to term limits and has been rumored to be mulling a run for governor in New York. Asked about that speculation, McCain told the New York Post:

“Do I think he could serve the state of New York and the country well? Of course.”

When asked about the possibility of Bloomberg, an Independent, running as the GOP’s vice presidential candidate, McCain refused to rule it out, saying: “We don’t talk about our vice- presidential possibilities. But he added: I appreciate Mayor Bloomberg enormously and the great job he’s done as mayor.”

As Newsmax’s Insider Report disclosed last week, a source close to the mayor told an interviewer that after a recent breakfast meeting between McCain and Bloomberg, the mayor was on McCain’s “short list” for the vice presidential slot.

McCain also had praise for former GOP rival Rudy Giuliani, who endorsed McCain after dropping out as a presidential candidate, and told the Post he would have a role in a McCain administration.

McCain even had nice words to say about Hillary Clinton, noting that she has “reached across the aisle” and worked with McCain on several issues.

But he said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is promoting a “radical” and “partisan” agenda.

If this doesn’t make your blood boil, I don’t know what will.  Certainly, anyone who places value in the Second Amendment, the plain language of the US Constitution and the Fundamental Right to Self Defense can see the implications of vetting a politician who is infamous for violating his oath of office and using the instrumentality of the State to break the law to go after those citizens exercising their Constitutional rights.

Clearly spellt out, McCain is a Leftist. He is not a Conservative.  He has signaled what he will do with regard to illegal immigration (Amnesty) what he will do with Energy and the Economy (ANWR off limits and Cap and Trade) and what his trajectory on Free Political Speech will be (McCain-Feingold)

It’s one thing for the Left to do what the Left will do.  They at least are known for lying, and anyone with functioning brain cells knows that they are, in reality, repainted Communists.

But some would have Conservative voters subject themselves to the Leftist policies of this Crypto-Commie.

Let he who has eyes—see.

Let he who has ears—listen.

The warning signs are there.

I, for one, will never vote for this Stealth-Marxist.

Bloomberg as VP??!!  There go all the NRA votes..

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

This is an exaggerated spin of such outrageous proportions that one doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I opted to laugh.

McCain has done nothing more than what all candidates do when pressed about specific running mates… say nice stuff and move on. Even Obama praised his nemesis Hillary Clinton.

There are certainly legitimate issues which thoughtful conservatives can - and do - raise about John McCain.

This farce is not one of them.

So, Mr Gun Seizure has delusions of grandeur on a national scale. Color me underwhelmed.

Pparets,

Now you know what it feels like to be viewed through the eyes of the far right (liberal leftist).  Welcome to the club my friend.

Hannitized on June 11, 2008 at 06:48 pm

Hannitized:  Please.  I frequently tangle with a few folks on SAB who think they own the definition of conservative.  They don’t.

I take my share of hits and once in a while land one.

Now and then I learn something and maybe inform others.  That’s how I used to view you and I miss those exchanges.

There is one man, I repeat, man from Georgia who is fighting this idiot in civil court.  I hope he wins.

In just about every Marine barracks is a poster which depicts a Drill Instructor pointing, a la Uncle Sam, but with the words:

If you were accused of being a Marine, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

Now imagine the same question posed, but in the context of Conservative.

McCain?

Innocent as charged.

Interesting opinion, but nothing more than that.

pparets.  Sorry to skip ahead.  There is one man from Georgia who has not settled out of court about this bloomburg civil suit.  The idiot is perhaps bloomberg who can not or will not prosecute criminals in his own state.

This is about bloomberg who grabbed the headlines a year ago for these civil suits out of state gun dealers.  He is over-reaching, in my opinion.

No PP,

At a certain point you have to quit calling yourself Conservative and admit you are a Leftist.

You can’t:

- Destroy the Second Amendment

- Destroy the First Amendment

- Support Global Warming

- Attack “Big Industry”

- Invite the population of Mexico to take up residence in the United States, illegally and call it legal

- Destroy our ability to glean life-saving intelligence from Islamic terrorists

- Side with Democrats a WHOLE LOT of the time

- Take a big chunk of your financial support from an avowed Leftist power broker

- Routinely undercut Conservative policies and defeat our own votes in Congress;

- Come this close to pairing up with Kerry and switching parties;

and still call yourself Conservative.

If you still think McCain is a Conservative after understanding his track record you have an obvious inability to process information from the world around you.

Indeed, I see very little from your posts which supports the proposition that you are Conservative.

again, an interesting opinion.

By conservative, do you mean social conservative? Fiscal conservative? Constitutional Conservative?
Move_Zig Conservative?

It’s not a definition that you are entitled to own.

Slippery as a wet bar of soap.

Can’t give a straight answer can you?  Quite easy, because you cannot.

Facts are facts, no matter how many meanings you want to give to the word ”is

One thing is clear.  You are as Conservative as McCain.

Move_Zig:  Maybe you overlooked this way back at the beginning:

There are certainly legitimate issues which thoughtful conservatives can - and do - raise about John McCain.  This farce is not one of them.

I am unhappy with McCain about his stance on ANWR. I am uneasy about his mixed messages on illegals.

I am quite satisfied with his positions on the war on terror and Iraq, selection of strict constructionist judges, protection of the 2nd Amendment, right to life, lower taxes and smaller government.

You are not.  So be it.

But, at the end of the day, you don’t get to decide who is a conservative and/or on what basis.
