I like your use of “Whackjob.” My home newspaper gave almost the whole topfold to his pictures and name, which I refuse to remember.  “Whackjob” he is henceforth dubbed!

To be fair I read nearly everyone tripping over themselves to make political points on this, I don’t think CNN would be alone on it.  Doesn’t matter what he said, it would be fodder.  The inarticulate rambling did seem to help though, everyone has a theory.  (Decline of English as a major.)

We all wanted to see what was in the package from the shooter, but we wanted NBC to show some restraint.  From what I hear, they have only released about 10% of what they received - this is tremendous restraint.  This fair and balanced gal is the last one to go around defending NBC, just like I was the last one to go around defending Don Imus - but there I was, doing just that. 

What makes us more upset - NBC showing us any of it, in this case 10%, or the fact that we haven’t seen the other 90% yet, dang it? 

Why should they get to see it and not us?  Obviously it’s not to protect us, it is to respect those directly affected by the attack.  Maybe they could ask them to vote on it.  This a democracy after all.

The MSM, by their 24/7 If it bleeds - It Leads coverage of these submarginal types, be they Al-Queda neck-sawing cowards or murderous misfits, only stoke copy-cat attacks by more misfits seeking their 15 minutes of fame.

They do this with a callous indifference to what the very predictable outcome will be.  They have stood the concept of Pour encourager les autres on its head and actively encourage copy cats to go on their own rampages.

Accessories to murder is what they are.

What they should do is give minimal, matter-of-fact coverage with very few photos. 

If only they can adopt the same attitude of utter distain the Leftist MSM have for gunowners and Christians, the marginal types could anticipate public ridicule to be their legacy, rather than the ratings-hungry, televised ghoulish fascination of rubberneckers slowing down to puruse the carnage of a multi-car wreck.
