The Triumph of Disorder
The burdens under which we struggle in the new world disorder, the foes and dangers we face from the chaos and the collapse in the world, and the proliferation of terrorism, subversion, gangsterism and non-state war are both serious and onerous. They can be overcome if we have the will and the courage to confront, admit and repair the problems and dangers facing our fragmenting country.
The long history of the world and its cultures is one of successive civilizations, empires, glories and failures. No people in that long record ever created a civilization without a faith. And no civilization has ever outlasted the loss of its faith. Loss of faith is inextricably entwined with the loss of faith in both government and in individuals.
We are a numerous people who were once united and proud.
We spoke a common language, took care of ourselves, and stood tall in the world not only because we worked hard and allowed every citizen to choose his own path with a minimum of restrictions, but because we honored our heritage.
Today our government has escaped our control: we are as cobwebbed with restrictions as was Gulliver, and hindered and smothered by a nanny-knows-best, oppressive, inefficient, and unbelievably ignorant government. A sense of hopelessness and anxiety, instead of hope and confidence, is now our growing public mood. This is not the ideal attitude to have when facing serious challenges.
We cannot return to the glory days of the past, but we can return to what worked in the past; in other words, a re-assertion of the values that underlie America’s greatness. It will take a re-awakening of this faith if we are to successfully cope with the waves of disorder, chaos and the destructive forces which threaten to overwhelm us.
If we fail, the world faces a return of barbarism, and a new Dark Ages descending on humanity.
