The October Surprise to Beat All October Surpises

Drudge Flash Report:

Webb’s novels disturbingly and consistently – indeed, almost uniformly – portray women as servile, subordinate, inept, incompetent, promiscuous, perverted, or some combination of these. In novel after novel, Webb assigns his female characters base, negative characteristics. In thousands of pages of fiction penned by Webb, there are few if any strong, admirable women or positive female role models.

Why does Jim Webb refuse to portray women in a respectful, positive light, whether in his non-fiction concerning their role in the military, or in his provocative novels? How can women trust him to represent their views in the Senate when chauvinistic attitudes and sexually exploitive references run throughout his fiction and non-fiction writings?

· Most Virginians and Americans would find passages such as those below shocking, especially coming from the pen of someone who seeks the privilege of serving in the United States Senate, one of the highest offices in the land:

I’m not putting this stuff that the Democrat Candidate for Senator from Virginia wrote on the front page.  Frankly writing about child molestation is sick.  I’ll excerpt a couple items on the extended entry.

What I find surprising is that the media hasn’t come out on this stuff before now.  I guess writing stories about some obscure African slur is more important.

Lost Soldiers: “A shirtless man walked toward them along a mud pathway. His muscles were young and hard, but his face was devastated with wrinkles. His eyes were so red that they appeared to be burned by fire. A naked boy ran happily toward him from a little plot of dirt. The man grabbed his young son in his arms, turned him upside down, and put the boy’s penis in his mouth.”

Something to Die For: “Fogarty . . . watch[ed] a naked young stripper do the splits over a banana. She stood back up, her face smiling proudly and her round breasts glistening from a spotlight in the dim bar, and left the banana on the bar, cut in four equal sections by the muscles of her vagina.”

Sick stuff.

Comments

To be fair, these excerpts are most likely taken out of context. And besides, it’s not like novels don’t veer off into character development to describe characters who are less than savory.

But what do I care? Jim Webb is known for taking things out of context and now he’s getting burnt for the same thing. I hope he’s happy playing the game.

Not so fun, is it Webb? Buck up shithead, you’ve earned it.

And, also to be fair, it’s kind of hard to imagine a context that would mitigate that passage from “Lost Soldiers”!

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

My goodness…

I can’t imagine any context mitigating a scene where the guy felates his underage son.

Disgusting.

I’m waiting for him to ‘splain it.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Someone just emailed me to say that it’s a custom in Vietnam and “much of the world” to kiss your children’s genitals.

First I’ve heard of that one.  Been searching the internet, but can’t find any references to that particular custom.

But Lik’s got it right.  Webb should reap as he sowed on this one.  Payback for all that macaca, “he said the n-word!” nonsense.

Hmm...

Thira Srey, office manager for the Southern California-based Cambodian Association of America, said it is acceptable for a mother or caretaker in Cambodia, especially those from rural areas, to kiss the penis of an infant or put it in her mouth as a sign of respect or love.

The child is usually 1 year old or younger, “but no more than 2 years old,” he said.

The act has nothing to do with sexual feelings, he said, noting that it can be viewed as a sign of high respect by a caretaker for a future “master.”

So I guess that’s an accepted custom in some parts of the world.

wow, the guy is well versed in the culture of the countries in the area he fought and served as a patriot our country. ..no wonder Ronald Reagan appointed him as his Secreatary of the Navy.

Leave it to the Christiano-fascists to give someone grief for the content of their FICTION.
I mean why, in our free country, should we let anyone have the freedom to write these types of things in a fiction novel? Strippers cutting bananas with their coochies and people from other countrues expressing their respect for their young… Makes me fucking sick.
Furthermore, I think we should excerpt them all and treat them as if they are acts or bona fide opinions that the candidate himself does/believes. That way everyone will think we are really smart for figuring it all out.
After that lets nail him to a cross eh? Goddamn fiction writers. After all, he licks young boys’ penises and gives aid and comfort to strippers who section bananas on the bar with their nether-muscles.
Oh, wait. My brain just started working again....
Nevermind.

Why don’t you want the voters to know what he thinks about Sparkie?

Sparkle is right(gasp), people should be concentrating on his non-fiction. Google him, and bask in his sick assed glory.

Jim Webb has been of great service to our country, but there’s no doubt he used to be an openly sexist macho type guy. ..may now be a closet one. Minus the sexist stuff, he would be a good Republican Senator.

So, when the “Demo-fascists” did the same thing to Lynne Cheney, that was OK with you?  Why the double standard?

I think Sparkie had his tongue in his cheek when he wrote that. Even the fever swamp dwellers know that NO ONE is suggesting that Webb doesn’t or shouldn’t have the freedom of speech to write or think what he wants.

And surely no one would equate commenting on someone’s writing as a “Christiano-fascist” attempt to silence that writing!

My bad. I can tell too, from her FICTION, that she is obviously an advocate of old western lesbo encounters. Eve and eve. That’s obviously what she believes if she puts it in a fiction book.

Fair enough, but she isn’t running for office.  That’s the difference.  The Demo-fascists attacked a private person.  Just another example of leftie homophobia.  Not to mention hypocrisy.
