Tapper: McCain ‘About to Open Up a Can of Whoop-ass on Obama’

By Noel Sheppard

UPDATE at end of post: the can has already been opened!

Without question, ABC’s Jake Tapper is one of the few members of the mainstream media who’s actually willing to publish less than favorable reports about Barack Obama.

In a “Political Punch” blog posting Saturday about new revelations involving indicted fundraiser Tony Rezko, Tapper deliciously summed up a Washington Post piece as claiming that “Sen. John McCain’s campaign...is about to open up a can of whoop-ass on Obama with a focus on his personal associations.”

I kid you not (emphasis added, photo courtesy ABC):

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the FBI is looking into whether or not former Obama pal Tony Rezko—convicted in June of attempted extortion, mail and wire fraud, and aiding and abetting bribery—paid for all or part of $90,000 worth work on the Northwest Side Chicago home of Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Rezko apparently liked helping out his politician pals on their real estate transactions. As you may recall, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Rezko’s wife, Rita, bought adjacent properties in a controversial and complicated series of real estate transactions, one of which Obama later called “boneheaded” because it might cause people to think he’d been done a favor in exchange for something untoward, which he denies is the case. Rezko at the time was under federal investigation. [...]

There’s also a curious story bubbling out there about a former Obama poker buddy, Will County Executive Larry Walsh, and questions leveled by a political opponent about Walsh’s connections to a county contractor. [...]

Meaning you should expect to hear much more about these Obama associates—some questions fair, others not; many associates legitimately slimy, others mere road kill on this political Autobahn—in this last full month of the campaign.

To wit: the Washington Post reports that Sen. John McCain’s campaign—convinced that the maverick thing alone isn’t working —is about to open up a can of whoop-ass on Obama with a focus on his personal associations.

[...]

Obama’s Chicago, Illinois, home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama’s 1995 campaign for a state Senate seat.

You can do it!

It’s about time this slimebag was exposed for what he is.

Will McCain bring up his associations with Keating.  Because remember if it wasn’t for John McCain,it would have been the Keating 4.

What we want to hear is McCain name names.  What we want to see is the mark of a true reformer at work in this campaign.  McCain has promised reform, promised to expose corruption, promised to name names.  Let’s see it.  This mortgage crisis stinks to high heaven of corruption. He can start with Barney Frank and Sec. Paulson.

Go after Barack, show some moxie, but do what you promised McCain.  Without the will to do so there will be very little reform from a President McCain.

And the conviction was handed down in what court, hawkie?

Oh, almost forgot, sweety, Jack Murtha is on tape, video and audio, on multiple occasions, arranging to accept bribes from foreign nationals at a future date. He said"once I get to know you’uns better, then we can do some business”, his exact words.

Tell you what Hawk: We’ll add you, call it the Keating Six and when you’re exonerated as John McCain was, the press will still tar you with the association.

I thought we were discussing associations, not convictions?

What has Obama been convicted of?

And do you deny that McCain showed up to the meetings with Keating and the other 4 Senators?

The American people will see this line of attack for what it is, desperation.

So much for McCain’s pledge to run a respectful issue oriented campaign.

But we all knew that was a lie months ago.

When you’re taking down a narcissistic sociopath, you don’t use nicey nice tactics. They don’t work!

The major issues confronting our nation are economic chaos of 1929 proportions and terroristic threats from enemies who seek our destruction. Obama is an enigma with no experience in executive leadership - you don’t put someone in as Commander in Chief of the greatest nation in the world at a time like this, just because they are charismatic and black.

People had better know what this man has done in his past, what he’s stood for and who his alliances have been over the course of his lifetime...because that information and that alone, will determine if a person is qualified for the highest office in the land.

So, therefore, the issues confronting the American people is this man’s past associations, his plan for our nation if he wins the highest office in the land, and his lack of integrity in multiple alliances with the influences of corruption over his last 20 years in Chicago politics, including the padding of his pocket by Fannie Mae during his two years as US Senator.

McCain would not be doing his job, and it would be a disservice to the American people, if he doesn’t strongly bring this information to the forefront of his campaign.

The MSM will not touch their idol nor expose the truth to the American people, so who’s going to do it? Actually, Fox News is doing it and I applaud them!

You want to know more about this man you adore - watch Hannity’s America tonight at 8:00 p.m. on Fox News.

What you’ve actually revealed is Obama’s major flip-flops when something like the picture below is brought to the forefront of American’s consciousness. It’s easy to start pretending you believe something if it will help fool the American people, but it’s initial actions that matter, because that is when the truth is really known.

Same thing with wearing an American flag pen. At first he said he would not do it, because he didn’t see it as necessary to show his patriotism. Then when the political backlash got a little too hot, he put one on and even wore one for the first debate.

The initial action and words are where the truth reside, not in any subsequent actions based on political expediency.

He and Michelle hate America and all she stands for. They fit comfortably with the anti-American crowd, but they really must fool the silent majority of citizens who love America to win this election, so Obama will do or say whatever it takes to win. And...if they win, the America we know and the freedoms we love, will be no more!

Telling the truth about Obama and his buddies isn’t an attack; it’s reality.

I’m flattered Joel - thank you for the compliment.

I work for a company that is absolutely staunch Democrats, but not one word (and that is unusual with regards to politics) has been spoken about Obama! Nothing, nada! Pro or Con. My boss and his wife are good friends of Bill & Hillary and it is obvious to me, they do not like Obama. I think they will vote for him because they will vote the Democratic ticket regardless, but they do not like him.

What I conclude from that is if a person is not a staunch die-in-the-wool Democrat, it is likely they will not vote for Obama when they enter that voting booth if everything about him gets exposed in the last month of this campaign.

The internet today is the greatest tool and supercedes the MSM in bringing things to the attention of the American people. If we do nothing else, maybe people will start researching the facts for themselves.

I wish McCain had opened the can sooner… consider the early absentee votes that have already been electonically tallied and the paper ballots that will not be counted until after the polls close on election night.

With millions of voters casting “early ballots” - some of them marked and sent weeks ago - a substantial portion of the votes will reflect sentiments framed before the contest took its current form.

Thus, major developments won’t be reflected in the final results from critical states.

This year more voters than ever will cast ballots early. The result may be that we get the final election results late.

It’s possible we won’t know which party controls either house of Congress for days or even weeks because of all the disputes and delays caused by absentee ballots.

This year, it’s expected that over one in four Americans will vote before Election Day.

In states such as Washington, California and Arizona, more than half the ballots are likely to be absentee. In California, more than 1 in 5 voters have signed up to receive absentee ballots for every election. Oregon has gone even further. In 2000 it abolished polling places, and everyone votes by mail.

Joel on October 5, 2008 at 10:34 am

Joel:  Excellent point!  For the last 25 years, the dems in every state and on the national level have been working to eliminate any standards from voter registration and voting.  Now, you can vote a month in advance in some places.

They have even gone so far as to suggest that any requirement for identification is intimidation, and that convicted felons and resident aliens should be able to vote.

Let’s see… that would be what voter groups....?
