Talk about failure!

Read this through twice. Only thing I can say is, if this was a covert DoD op to influence news reporting it failed. Miserably.

I watch very little broadcast or cable news, and from what I have seen, and has been frequently commented upon, the officers doing the analysis are of the “war on terror is lost”, “its just a law enforcement problem” variety.  The Colon Powell school of thought. Perhaps I am mistaken! It is possible that there has been this drum beat of possitivity and optimism in the MSM. Been wrong before.

2Hotel9.  Long read.  But--

The documents released by the Pentagon do not show any quid pro quo between commentary and contracts.

My take.  It takes a former military man to interpret without “leaking” classified information to the public the situation on the ground and in the air.  Most people in the US really could care less or know nothing about the Global War on Terrorism.  In my opinion, it is just a tiny minority of socialists that call themselves journalists that are trying to maintain their virtual (defacto if you like) monopoly on information, or in their case, propaganda.

Chief, you have done substantially more active duty time than I have, and you know the kinds of officers that gravitate to Public Relations slots. Little “o” officers. Very few, until recently, Officers went that way. There are several communities in the military. Not all have the best interests of this nation at heart. And damned few of the ones that go into media slots do. Self interest. It is a subversive element in an Officer.
