Stopping Drive-By Shootings in Chicago

I can cure drive by shootings in Chicago in 72 hours.  Give me the resources and the permission and I can do it.

Day 1 – Every Person in the city of Chicago, young and old, black and white will be given a mandatory gun users training course.  How to load and fire a suitable weapon well and safely.

Day 2 – Marksmanship is taught.  You will be able to shoot and kill whatever you aim at.

Day 3 – Every Person in the city of Chicago will be issued a gun of their choice and proficiency.  Big handgun, rifle, it must be centerfire and .223 or larger.

At the end of the third day, if a car full of drive by shooters should emerge witnesses would find the car crashed into a tree at the end of the block with dead shooters in it, bullets in their heads.  This should permanently discourage further drive by shooters.

Should cut down on the mugging too don’t you think?  And, how bout rapes, and armed robberies.  In fact, if we did that, I think Chicago would be a safer place for all.

But, first we would have to kill all the lawyers (Shakespeare)

Who pays for this? Sounds socialist.

Are you kidding Gene? My grandfather used to endorse a version of this, “Give everyone a .38. Then we’ll see how many girls get raped.”
Great theory, but everyone in Chicago armed to the teeth would be very dangerous. If you can’t figure that out you have some type of cognitive flaw. I do think there are some rational justifications for gun control in large cities. When they foist that crap on the rural people is when they are wrong.

Gene the anarchist.  so that is what happens to right wing religious nut jobs when they lose an election.  They become religious anarchists.

Gene just wants there to be sooo many shootings in Chicago that the drivebys just blend right in. Also notice he provided no means to stop the drivebys, merely a means to insure there are many more shootings in addition to the drivebys. I’m surprised he just didn’t suggest that all the white people get guns and all the black people get white t-shirts with big red bullseyes on them. I think that’s about what he’s getting at.
Oh nevermind, I just found the section of the bible that calls for the arming of Chicago. Now I know where he’s coming from. /sarcasm

Another “religious” guy I know, actually a mormon, had his own solution.

Basically he wanted a death penalty lotto. Where a big 365 day wheel was spun once a year and everyone in jail on the day the thing landed on was executed.

Yes, he was serious.

Excuse me, you were saying?

So this is how Fundamentalist Christians solve problems?  And they want to be in charge?  How old will the kids in the schools be before they are issued guns?  I guess it would stop playground bullying once all the victims and bullies were dead.  Homework late?  Shoot the teacher.
Will people take their guns into church?  Don’t like the sermon?  Shoot the preacher.  Wine gone flat?  Shoot the server.  Yup, goooooooood idea, there, great to see what a true born again Christian really things like.  This is brilliant.  What if one person in that car of driveby shooter objected to the whole thing and was just innocently along for the drive?  Deserved to die for associating with such people?  What if there were 2 cars of the same color and make in the neighborhood and the bystanders shot the drivers and passengers in the wrong car?  Oh, but GOD would stop them from making that mistake right?

If you were Satan, how would you come to earth?  As an ugly hideous mean thing?  Or disguised as someone claiming to be good and kind and nice with all the answers so that you could lure them in?  This kind of lapse of the disguise just proves what form Satan really has taken:  Fundamentlist Christians.

Will people take their guns into church?

This is already happening (about a dozen in church killings by invading pagans this last year), so, let’s arm the whole congregation.  That’ll sort out the sinners quick.  Oh, and I would’t shoot to kill for flat wine.  Just wound.

RBB: Introduce me to your friend the Morman.  I think he’s got a good idea there.

Anybody know where this quote came from?

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Just wondering.

Under this law the first thing I would do was go park myself near where this disturbed man named Gene would drive by and shoot him .... After all he may well have been a drive by shooter intending to shoot me.  If that defense wouldn’t work I would claim to have rid the world of a very dangerous man and throw my self on the mercy of the court.

Hey, Gene, everyone in that church is a sinner except for you apparently. Jesus is not going to welcome you through the pearly gates.  He will ask that you explain this post and how it meets with his philosophy.  Can you do that?

Repent now, Gene, it is not too late.

Hmm…

Hey, Gene, everyone in that church is a sinner except for you apparently.

Says the same self-righteous ignoramus who presumes to then say this:

Jesus is not going to welcome you through the pearly gates.

Because Puzzle knows what Jesus’ criteria are for admitting people to heaven.

I thought St Peter had gate duty.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Interesting that our resident leftists choose to disparage the religious faith of someone with whom they disagree… attacking the person rather than the idea.

Of course, in this case, the idea is little more than the suggestion that everyone in the effected area should avail themselves fully of their Constitutionally mandated Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.”

Those on the left are contemptuous of religion in general and most particularly Christianity.  And they are certainly known to be selective about the sanctity of the first ten constitutional amendments, brazenly making up new “rights” when it suits their convenience, while ignoring those written out by the Founding Fathers.

Still, it would be interesting to know just how often Puzzle or Shocked, or RBB have been inside a church n the past year or two, and how much of their income they gave as well.  After all, those on the left are always braying about how the government should force the rest of us to “give” more to all manner of bogus leftwing causes.  Wouldn’t it be of interest to know how much those who berate religious causes actually “donate” on their own?

Incidentally, throughout much of the late 1980’s and the 1990’s, the city with the lowest crime rate in the state of Georgia, and one of the lowest in the entire US as well, was Kennesaw, where a local ordinance mandates that every homeowner owns a firearm.

No, someone (the State, presumably) was giving these people guns and training courses. This is radically different.

Of course, you should have recognized the lump in my cheek from my tounge firmly implanted?

On the other hand, the more I read the rabid lefties rant the more I thought about tounge removal.  With each comment the idea grew in crediblity.

You lefties are so easy, your chain just hangs out there for the pulling.

Consider it well tugged.

Oh Gene boy I think we all know that it was tongue in cheek… the problem is we also know that deep in your heart your believe the racist-nazi-satanic stuff that comes out of your mouth. In your world everyone is the enemy accept those who think exactly like you.

Clifford Clavus on November 17, 2006 at 01:10 pm

Now wait a minute cliffy boy,
I have several amoung this august group who don’t think exactly or in some cases at all like me and I don’t see them as the enemy.  In fact I hold them in high affection:
I accept and even like:
Rob
Whistler
2H9
RBB
Go Prairie
Bat One
R108
RPerry
Pilgrim
Liquidshoe
I even like Puzzle

Most of those don’t think like me at all, or much.

So, you don’t have to think EXACTLY like me to be accepted.  It’s better if you do of course.  If I didn’t think so I wouldn’t say so.

But, I don’t base acceptance on theological or political or social thinking.  I base it on reason and spirit. And therein lies the difference between the left and right.

I have missed a few of my favorites but that list represents a provable cross section which defeats the quality of your weak argument.

In fact, the only unaccepting judgemental people on this comment thread are those from the left.

Excluding RBB who’s go me to thinking about that hard edit I have to do on the 10 commandments to get it down to a workable 9.

keep and bear arms?  No, I think Gene was advocating shooting to kill and vigilante justice, not merely self defense.  you know it had nothing to do with the right to bear arms and everything to do with revenge and hatred.

contemptuous of religion?  No, merely contemtuous of hypocricy, as many of us see the main componant of true Christianity as following the inclusive peaceloving teachings of Jesus and wonder at people who advocate violence done in the name of religion.  oh, don’t quote to me about Jesus’s few violent episodes, they were in the minority of what he did and taught and you know it.

been inside a church?  irrelevant measure of good/evil or morality or ethics.  and you all know that too.

tongue in cheek?  not funny.  not a good excuse for tossing out such ideas.  and you know that too.
