setting a Guiness Book of World Fishing record
Jeff Kolodzinski — or “Kolo,” as he’s known — is hoping to break the record of 1,680 fish he set last year on Lake Minnetonka and hook nearly 2,000 fish in 24 hours.
According to a news release, Kolo plans to start his fish-a-thon at 7:30 a.m. July 31 and conclude the next morning — or earlier, if he collapses under pressure or from heat exhaustion.
Vice president of marketing for fishing-gear manufacturer Frabill, Kolo also is aiming to raise awareness for the “Armed Forces Family Fishing Celebration.” Sponsored by Fishing for Life, Frabill and the Twin Cities Chapter of Muskies Inc., the Armed Forces Family Fishing Celebration offers a day on the water for youths with a parent serving overseas and families with a member who has recently returned from deployment.
The Family Fishing Celebration is set for Aug. 21 at Maynard’s on Lake Minnetonka.
“I am honored to contribute my time and rather wacky talent for these kids to have a day that celebrates fishing and honors their parents and the huge sacrifices they make on a daily basis,” Kolodzinski said.
