Savage Uses ChickenHawk Argument

Or a derivation thereof. On a recent show he made the comment that (paraphrased) “Of course, we don’t expect Bush and them to serve. They’re too old. They’re not good age for the military. But why aren’t their children serving? Why are’t Bush’s daughters over there fighting the war? Why don’t any of the supporters of the war send their children over there?”

The reasons are legion why such an argument is flawed. As the first caller to his show after his little rant brought up, several Congressmen have had children in the wars, including former Presidental candidate Duncan Hunter.

And as an on again, off again, supporter of the war himself, Savage strongarmed none of his children off to pick up a gun for the country he loves so much. Seems a tad unfair, in retrospect, to demand it from others.

So, to support a war, one must force their children into military service (even if said children are against the war), as one of Bush’s daughters is, or if one has already served? In this, Savage reeks of the worst left wing critics of the administration. Having no service himself, he dares call others into question. And he demands that Bush’s tiny party girl daughters (one anti-war) be conscripted...to hell with the consequences for their battalions. It’s unbelievable that a man who considers himself a serious commentator would try such a crap argument.

Savage is a legend in his own mind. His career peaked a couple of years ago, after a major foot-in-mouth moment on a fledgling cable show he was given...which was promptly canceled.
His books are on the remainder tables in most book stores. He has flashed in the pan and is slowly circling the porcelain. (To mix a metaphor or two!)

All he has left is to say outrageous things and hope he gets noticed by someone. I think the two words above that describe it best was when you said:

...Savage reeks…

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

mikee is a racist scumbag, a screecher of stupidity and ignorance. As for his children, thank God such pathetic examples of humanity are barred from serving.

Talk about uninformed!!?? Savage doesn’t even know that John McCain’s son is serving in Iraq. Duh.

"Here lies, in honored glory, an American soldier, known but to God.”

The stakes are high. Whether the issue is the economy, or energy, or the federal courts or national security, the right answers are coming not from the Democrats, but from the Republicans. The surge of operations that began a year ago is succeeding. The only way to lose this fight is to quit. Richard M. Cheney, Vice President, 30 May, 2008

The problem is, as I see it, that the few hate mongering conservatives on radio like Savagae are tarring the other civil, albeit entertaining conservative voices with their ugly image. We conservatives must reject these mean-spirited conservative radio talk show hosts, even if on occasion they say things we find agreeable. That is why I will not listen to or go to Drudge’s Blog, even though he can say some pretty good things against liberals and liberalism, I reject his less savory points of view.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

IDK anything about his kids. They may be shining examples of humanity.

More like, they better be damned glad their dad doesn’t make policy. They’d have been conscripted retroactively.

He backpedaled immediately as soon as a caller said “Sorry, dude, you’re dead wrong.” Then there was a floundering moment, and you could tell he did an immediate check. “Aha, but can you tell me ANOTHER one?” Like he’d known all about Hunter all along and was testing teh rubes (even though there have been a cool dozen or so Republicans in office who had kids serving at one time or another). But he immediately went back on the attack.

Absolutely dispicible.

I read this as I drink his son’s beverage - Rockstar Energy Drink.

Son of a bitch.

Are they really “party girl daughters” anymore? Or was that from six or seven years ago when they were a bit younger?

I think that the girls have acquired a bit of class in recent years. Don’t prematurely label them. A lot of people party when they’re young.
