Satan and Illegal Immigrants

The GOP in Utah considered the relationship between illegals and the Dark Prince at their recent convention but sadly it was the last item on the agenda and no quorum existed to take a definitive stand at the end of proceedings. Read the story at the Reason Magazine blog...stories like this make me wonder if maybe, just maybe, conservatives don’t enjoy their share of wacky types.

Do you really “wonder”, Mike?  It would be a mistake to assume any more than normal human variation here.  By your own admission there was no quorum to take a definitive stand on this obviously nutty subject.  The great majority of conservatives simply want our borders enforced and the invasion of illegals stopped.

r108...you got me. I know that there are just as many wacky Republicans as wacky Democrats and I also know that the folks who stuck it out to the end of the Utah chinwag are not typical mainstream Republicans. Given all the complaining about the Cindy Sheehans and Code Pinks of the world it’s kind of refreshing to see that Republican oddballs don’t mind looking foolish in public either.

It doesn’t work.”

MikeA: A few quibbles:

I know that there are just as many wacky Republicans as wacky Democrats How can you be sure?  Got any numbers? and I also know that the folks who stuck it out to the end of the Utah chinwag are not typical mainstream Republicans. Given all the complaining about the Cindy Sheehans and Code Pinks of the world it’s kind of refreshing to see that Republican oddballs don’t mind looking foolish in public either. I don’t know how you can equate the 24/7, front page coverage given to Cindy and Code to this rather obscure incident.

Republicans, in general, don’t have the propaganda machine(MSM), that the lefties have, and so lack anything resembling the coverage even the fringe lefties(Sheehan, Code Pink) get.

oh robert...next you’ll be telling me that the media is biased against Republican senators who make medical diagnoses off of video. wink

MikeA: I’m not sure what your reference is, but it isn’t bias to criticize something that should be criticized for good reason.  It is bias to criticize one group for something, but not another group that does the same thing, or worse. It is also bias to publicize either the virtues or vices of one group, but not those of another group.

I found a post on Unqualified Offerings dealing with the same topic. Hilarious!
