Rush Limbaugh Endorses Joe Lieberman

I actually heard it. Some poor fellow called in from Connecticut and began talking about how proud he was to be supporting the GOP candidate no matter what and Rush suggested Lieberman had a chip on his shoulder and would have revenge to take out on the Dems if elected?!?!? I thought my ears were hallucinating, but no… it was a veridical experience. Rush said he knew what the poor Republican from Connecticut was thinking but then continued on to endorse the leftist Lieberman.
See here.

Conservatives need to be careful about endorsing Lieberman.  A Lieberman victory would be a great rebuke of the Democrats move to the far left on foreign policy, but the guy is just a liberal on every other issue.

I hope Lieberman wins, but only because the GOP challenger never had a hope of winning and because it would deny the nutroots crowd a victory.

This type of sentiment is proof that democracy is failing. When people, like the guy who called in to Rush, vote for who they would like to win, then democracy is working. When you vote against somebody or vote for someone you really don’t want to win, then democracy is not working. They have a false mandate because people who don’t really support them have supported them. The last thing any conservative interests need is Lieberman thinking he has some kind of bona fide mandate from his base. He is a total liberal kook and the fact that Rush and Rob are stubbing for him blows my mind. Although I have a feeling he’s probably pro-Israel (hee hee hee).

Democracy is about picking the best candidate available.  Lieberman is the best candidate available in his race in Connecticut.

So you pick the lesser of two evils.  It isn’t always perfect, but there’s no better system.

Be careful, you are implying that the guy who called in and is planning on voting for the GOP candidate is being undemocratic (or doesn’t get what democracy is about) when he clearly is not.
Also - I think encouraging people to vote for Lieberman gives totally new meaning to the phrase ‘cut-and-run’ republican. Now, not only are they cutting from voting for their own candidates, they are running to support leftists.
I NEVER VOTE FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS. BY DOING SO ONE PROVIDES SOME JERKOFF WITH AN ARTIFICIAL MANDATE HE DOESN’T DESERVE.

Sparkie, Democracy is about each individual voter deciding for himself/herself which candidate or policy is best.  We each have our own method for making those decisions, and no method is really any better than another.
