Rightwing Blog Blackout on the Libby Trial?

The silence is deafening in the right wing blog world on the Libby trial.  Not nary a mention on Drudge or any rightwing blog.  Hm.... one would think that the rightwing bloggers all conspired to not blog on the Libby trial.

The news is interesting and not going well for Libby so far, but since his opening statement is that he was being made the fall guy for Rove, his defense should be very interesting.

Since no right wing blogs are writing on this I will try to keep you all updated.

There’s hardly been a right wing blog blackout on the Libby trial.  Just off the top of my head Outside the Beltway has provided extensive coverage, as has Wizbang.  Both of those blogs actually got press passes for the trial.

Tim Blair has been posting on it frequently as well, and Instapundit has been providing us usual link love to all.

I, myself, haven’t posted much on it only because I don’t care any more.  The whole thing is a big nothing.  The press spent years going after the Bush administration, and it turned out to be Richard Armitage.  We spent tens of millions of tax dollars investigating a crime that didn’t happen until there was an investigation.

If you want to care about it go ahead (you’ve got all the access you need to do so here on SA now), but there are more important things to talk about.

Puzzlefeet is inventing more conspiracies.

I guess that is one way of staying occupied.

Pure fiction.  Here are the facts:

Maybe “Americans” are not blogging on it.

Maybe ‘Conservatives” aren’t blogging on it, but “Right Wing” is a phrase out of the communist lexicon.

Does that tell you something about the user’s perspective?  Yes, indeed.

I suggest that the real division is between Americans and Socialists.  Socialists have no loyalty to America, but are internationally-oriented (they call it being ‘multicultural’ ).

Yes, it’s semantics and labelling, but it is high time we started to notice these subtleties.

As for Libby, just why is he being tried, if Plame’s identity was declassified?  Isn’t that a massive, glaring, damaging leak that noone is paying attention to: e.g. secret prisons where we extracted vital intelligence information not from soldiers, but terrorists (who are NOT covered by the Geneva Convention?)

MZ: Even ignoring P’s tendency to call real Americans “right wingers”, there is a lot of blogging on the Libby “trial” from conservatives.  She is simply wrong in her post.  Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Here’s the excerpt from The American Thinker:

Clarice Feldman on the Libby Trial
Thomas Lifson
Our astute Libby Trial correspondent Clarice Feldman has been live blogging the Libby Trial from the media room, and has posted her reflections on yesterday’s proceedings at Just One Minute. Clarice’s many fans will find her characteristic wit and insight on full display.  Here are some highlights:

Wednesday was a good day for the Libby defense…

Actually, Clarice Feldman has been all over the Plame story since Joe Wilson first lied about what he did and what he found on his trip to Niger.  I believe it was she who first noted the disparity between what Wilson wrote in the NYT and what investigators for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence reported that he told CIA de-briefers.

In fairness to Puzzle, I notice that very few conservative bloggers are spending any time on the question of Rush Limbaugh’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Must be a conspiracy.

Try The Corner on NRO http://corner.nationalreview.com/

They have a search function. Try it. Have you used any search engines to look for the references you seek? Or was your opinion so firmly entrenched that you did not even bother to try? NRO has been all over this since the very beginning. There’s Scooter Libby stuff up today.  Please amend you statement to read “no right wing blogs that I read, because if I haven’t seen it, it must not exist”

Please remove puzzlefeet from puzzlemouth and publish a correction.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

I don’t mind Puzzle posting on Libby.  It doesn’t interest me, but some people here will no doubt enjoy discussing it.

Though I suspect Puzzle’s coverage isn’t exactly going to be fair.

Yeah, well that’s one reason to follow the story; to make puzzled look bad.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Just try thinking of it as target practice.

Its a non story since Libby is just the fall guy. Richard Armitage, is the guy that released the idenity but for some reason the left wing which hunt has stopped at Libby.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Armitage

Journalist Bob Woodward of the Washington Post revealed on November 15, 2005 that “a government official with no axe to grind” leaked to him the identity of outed CIA officer Valerie Plame in mid-June 2003. According to an April 2006 Vanity Fair article (published March 14, 2006), former Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee said in an interview “That Armitage is the likely source is a fair assumption,” though Bradlee later told the Post that he “[did] not recall making that precise statement” in the interview.[5]

On March 2, 2006, bloggers discovered that “Richard Armitage” fit the spacing on a redacted court document, suggesting he was a source for the Plame

It’s been a non-story from the very beginning, since anyone with a 10th grade education could read the Intelligence Identities Protection Act and realize that there had been no violation.

Of course, Joe Wilson had already identified Valerie Plame as his wife on his web site long before 2003, and Valerie had identified her employment with the FEC donation forms required by law after she made her contributions to the AlGore presidential campaign.

And nobody has yet explained how Wilson identified the faked signatures and “official” seal on the forged Iraq-Niger Uranium contract before that document had reached US hands.

Definitely the real intrigue story plays out with Joe Wilson in the lead role.  With the insignifcanet Libby in center stage, it’s doubtful that the Joe Wilson story will ever captures the publics interest.  You think that was the plan?

docdave on February 2, 2007 at 12:57 pm

Doc,

Although Wilson is intriguing, he is also a hapless amateur.

If you read the SSCI report carefully, you’ll see that somewhere between 100 and 400 tons of “yellowcake” was “unaccounted for, although Wilson said that the French had complete control of the consortium which in turn controls the Niger mines.

I would offer three questions.  What was in that warehouse in Gabon (where Wilson had been ambassador) that was never investigated, tested, tracked, or followed up on?  How unlikely is it to assume that the missing “yellowcake” would have brought a much higher than market price in an illicit sale to the joint Iraqi/Egyptian/Libyan WMD program in the Libyan desert?  And how did Wilson, who took and early retirement from the State Department, manage to purchase a $1.2 million home in a tony Washington neighborhood, with no recorded mortgage?

You’re right, of course.  There is much, much more to the story of Joe Wilson and his “super spy” wife.

Yeh, I agree that bumbling Joe aint no star, however he is the centerpiece.  Joe was just the ‘message boy’ someone to blame if things went down.  He saw a way fueled by the press and the dems to take the heat off himself so he conveniently let the spotlignt move to Libbys hopeless figure.

Is there bigger fish in this scandal?  The money and home Wilson received ‘for a job well done’ would seem to agree.  The old saying that if you want to find the real culprits, just follow the money still works although there seems to be endless ways to hide it.
