Replenishing the Ol’ Coffers

So we now know what Bush will be doing starting January 2009.  He will be out giving speeches “replenishing the ol’ coffers” on the speaking circuit, living in Dallas and when he gets bored ponying off to Crawford. “I can just envision getting in the car, getting bored, going down to the ranch,” he says in Robert Draper’s new book.

From Robert Draper’s new book: “Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush”:

“I’ll give some speeches, to replenish the ol’ coffers,” says Mr Bush, who is already estimated to be worth $20m. “I don’t know what my dad gets - it’s more than 50-75 [thousand dollars a speech], and “Clinton’s making a lot of money”.

So he takes us to war where we will lose 4000 men and women and will probably lose more men and women while he is already planning to make a bundle of money “replenishing the ol’ coffers” when he leaves office in 2009.

Oh and lest you think this was an unauthorized book, President Bush sat for the interviews on two separate occasions.

Really pathetic. Really.

Really pathetic. Really.

What’s pathetic is this meaningless post.  Virtually all politicians, especially presidents have speaking engagements to make money for their party.  Certainly Bill Clinton went that route following his presidency and of course you have nothing negative to say about that.  However, there is one thing that is certain.  Unlike Carter, Gore and other Democrats, he will not make anti-American speechs like they have done.

YES! We should ALL stop making money while our brave men and women are fighting! /sarcasm

No guys, what’s pathetic, is that the guy is talking about it before he even leaves office and while he is at war, a war he started, that he said wouldn’t last this long.

What’s pathetic, is that you guys defend what he is saying while expecting our men and women to defend his policies while he is out fillin his ol coffers and planning it while he is expecting our men and women to continue fighting his war.

That takes maturity indeed. Life goes on, Lik, that’s really pathetic that you would say this as our men and women are being killed.  Oh yeah, I want you to say that to a mother or father or husband or wife who has lost a loved one.  go ahead, I dare you!

What’s pathetic, oh Puzzled One, is the missing context.

President Bush sat for the interviews on two separate occasions.

And perhaps, he was asked what he would do when he left office?
Take your mock outrage and save it for some illegal campaign contribution scandal. At least Bush is talking about making honest money “while our brave men and women are fighting” how about the scumbags (Dollar Bill Jefferson, Three Dollar Bill Hillary, etc. who are making DIS-honest money during the same time. This is more honorable in your eyes?

Proof, he was asked the question and he should have said: “I’m concentrating on my duties as president and we are at war.  There will be plenty of time when I leave office to decide my future, but the futures of our military men and women are at stake and we should concentrate on that.”

See how easy that is Proof?

What’s pathetic is your BDS which apparently doesn’t allow you to see beyond your Bush hatred.  Our men and women in the military know fully well what they are doing and and that is defending and protecting our nation and its citizens which unfortunately includes undeserving leftists like you.

Right, DD, they’re defending the President’s right to plan his $75,000 speech tour while they are fighting his war.  You, my dear DD are suffering from, as many do here, BAS, Bush Apologist Syndrome.

Puzzlefeet on September 4, 2007 at 06:27 pm

P: You have the right to spread your hate exactly because this President stood up to terrorism and started to fight against it, unlike the coward who preceded him.  You owe him a debt you can never repay.

He was talking about it because he was asked about it.  Once he’s no longer President there isn’t much he can do about Iraq, nor would I expect him to try and do something.  For better or worse, Democrat or Republican, we will have a new President after Bush…and it will be entirely appropriate for Bush to take trips down to his ranch or speak for money.

Honestly, this is about as petty as it gets.

P: Please give us a logical connection between our war against the terrorists and the President giving speeches after his term is over.  Not your “logic”, but real logic.

Dude. Who cares? All this has done for me is let me know not to buy the book, which will probably be overpriced anyway. I have been buying other books though, and will continue to, but not that book. That’s all I can glean here.

spark, two words, secondhand bookstore. Never pay retail for books!

puzz, the best part is that he has already outlined a speaking tour. During the run up in 2004. The main topic he is keen to speak on? Green technology. You know? Like he had used in the “ranch” in Crawford. Several years before running for President. I believe it was covered in a WashPo article. Or perhaps the Vanity Fair piece. And why are you so ignorant of your hero’s lucrative speaking gigs? Algore grosses more than Willie Jeff ever has.

You seem a bit in disarray, sweety, you should try to take it easy. Perhaps a little reading to relax?  There is a rather broad selection of tomes written by soldiers about their experiences protecting your freedoms and way of life, many from the last 6 years. Oh! Thats right. It is improper for people to make money writing, or speaking, about past events and their opinions/thoughts on said past events.

How considerate of you to figure all this out and explain it for us.

Guttermouth, neither of those started a war that will last a generation.

R108 Oh,I dunno, maybe that he is in the midst of a “war on terror” and is speaking publicly about garnering 50-75 grand a speech and if he gets bored he’ll run on down to Crawford at the same time our young men and women are being killed. so much for keeping his eye on the war on terror.  It sounds as if he is already bored.

Oh and I don’t live by your definition of logic.
